Hello from northwest Alabama!  Haven't done much metal detecting since the late '80's and early 90's when I had a friend that had a truck bed full of metal detectors. He was single with no children so spent his money on guns, metal detectors, and boats. LOL!  His detectors were mostly White's, a few Bounty Hunters and a couple of MineLabs (might have been a Garrett or two in there). We'd go detecting and he'd hand me two or three detectors and say "Here. Pick one."  We were government contractors that travelled a fair amount and most of our detecting was in West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.  I never got really good at detecting because of swapping detectors too much, but I still found some goodies.

I retired in 2020 and in 2022 moved back onto our family farm and started trying to clean it up and fix it up.  Most of the old barns, sheds, and shop buildings are gone now, but a lot of the trash that was left behind is still in the ground. This year alone, I've fixed five times more flat tires on our trucks, mowers, and tractors than all the rest of my life put together, and I'm NOT a spring chicken. My wife bought a cheap TEMU pinpointer and we've been using it in our driveways and farm roads and I'm utterly astounded at the amount of iron and interesting stuff that we've dug up.  And we've been having fun!  So we decided to get a more serious detector (or two): hence my joining this forum.  Also, I really like the premise that this forum was founded upon.
