Anyone have an issue like this?

My Axiom has been turning off automatically for no reason....

Yes it is fully charged...   thanks in advance...

I was in the field... all working good and then it just shut off....I turned it back on and it turned off within seconds....

It is fully charged... got home... same thing again...

Today I retried....same thing...

I do not use booster pack... mystery....

So you are omitting some key information in your posts to help us differentiate whether the issue is actually normal behavior associated with the Axiom’s auto shutoff feature or a potential technical issue.  Note the auto shutoff works regardless of the state of charge of the battery.

How long have you owned  the Axiom?  Trying to determine if this is new Axiom behavior that has recently manifested itself after weeks or months of usage or whether you are encountering the auto shutoff feature for the first time as a relatively new Axiom owner.

How long did it run after you last operated any controls before it shut off?  As described in the post I linked above,  Steve Herschbach discovered that the Axiom will automatically shut off if you do not manipulate the controls every couple of hours, even if you are swinging the detector.  If it is shutting off after only several minutes or much less than a few hours operational time since the last button press, that is a likely technical issue and not the auto shutoff.

Your detector is likely to still be in warranty and Garrett customer support is top notch, so if it definitely appears to be malfunctiong, highly suggest calling Garrett support, describing the issue and arranging for a possible warranty repair, if needed.  They will take care of you.

What Chase said above for sure,  Give Garrett a call.  other quick thoughts...If you have another coil you could try connecting a different coil and see if it turns on and stays on. Also with the machine off check that your coil connection is tight and no damage at the coil or the cable along the shaft of the machine. Not sure if the machine can be turned on without a coil connected that would be something to find out, I would like to know as well...

wish you luck, And welcome to the forum!

What was the issue?  (So we can all benefit from what you discovered).

  • 2 weeks later...

It actually needed to be charged..

The battery on the axiom monitor said it was fully charged so I thought what if it was not reading correctly so I put it on the charger for a few hours and it worked just fine....

Anyone else have that problem?
