I haven't made a list of the names of detectors yet but the recent releases are certainly getting away from just numbers.

Vortex

Manticore

Monster

Those are just a few.

Please add more and perhaps give some background on where the name came from as internal or external marketing departments.

I'll add one ...

The Legend

I liked the more traditional professional sounding names than these gimmicky names, names like the Gold Bug 2, SD2000, SDC2300, GPX 4500, GPZ 7000, they sound like real tools and new versions can easily be added by adjusting the numbers from GPX 4500 to GPX 5000 etc.

Legend, Manticore Vanquish, Monster? Names for toys not for serious equipment.

That's just me I suppose. Car companies have been doing similar; I liked names like the Mazda RX3 not names like the Mazda Bongo.  Toyota did well with the Land Cruiser name, professional and descriptive.    We get a lot of Japanese Import cars here, so cars designed for sale in Japan only with their Japanese naming, some funny names for cars that's for sure 🙂

WW2 aircraft, Mustang, Hellcat, lighting and Spitfire!  Modern?  How about Warthog?!  😆  It’s all in the name!
