I would like to know if any of you have tried an aftermarket DD coil (NEL etc) on old 6.59 kHz White's metal detectors, such as the 5900-6000di pro plus or the 6000 of pro sl or xl pro. I would like to know if it works well and if the metal detector remains fluid and with a stable needle indicator like the original Blue Max 950 coil, improving on more mineralized soils.

Thank you

  • The title was changed to DD Coil For White's 6.59 kHz

Your best bet is to email some of the coil manufacturers like Detech, Coiltek, Cors, etc and ask them directly, if they or someone else makes a coil compatible with the exact model you have. On older models like that, it can be tricky to find modern coils. I know on the newer Whites machines the SEF coils were a decent improvement over the factory coils.

Hey @Luki.

I don't think I'm much help. Back in these days (2006), I had some Detech DD coils here for testing with the IDXpro. The depth compared to standard coils was enormous, as were the sensitivity to small objects and the selectivity. Unfortunately, I don't remember how the object ID worked; it wasn't that important to us back then. The people at Detech are very friendly and helpful. Perhaps you could just send them an email. All the best.
