Manticore Finds Gold Ring and Chain

Went out a few days ago to do some water hunting. It hasn't been a good year in the gold department for me, but this sure helps. Got a nice, solid 32 ID reading and found this 14K, 4.3 gram wedding band. I was pretty excited as it was only the third target I dug. The bottom was an area that felt somewhat hard, so I really slowed down and hunted it methodically. About 6 feet away, I got another nice soft reading of 9 ID on the Manti. Dug a half scoop and it was gone. Dug another and it was there again loud and clear. Carefully digging another, the target was finally in the scoop. I don't think the chain was deep but moved around in the digging process. It turned out to be a marked 10K chain, but the lobster claw is marked .585, weighing a nice 16.5 grams. Maybe the lobster claw was replaced? I hunted for quite a while in that area with no more goodies to be found. This is the first gold chain I have found IN the saltwater in several years. I was running in the submerged mode with the sensitivity at 23 with a sweep speed of 4.

Nice find! I work in jewellery and unfortunately with the price of gold lately, its pretty often we see people opt for lower purity replacement clasps.

I was surprised when I put it on the scale. It felt heavy in my hand, but I had no idea it weighed that much. I like chains! 😁

It's a nice style of chain too. Not like those thin chains that you can barely find because of some charm hanging on it 😄 With gold doing what it is, finds like that can pay for a machine a lot faster these days.

For sure! I've had a few of those magic disappearing targets that I almost gave up on that turned out to be gold.
