Sweet gold! I'm sure it looked great in the scoop. It doesn't take as much anymore for a great payday - congrats!!

Thanks Compass,

Yeah it didn't appear until I got it out of the gravel in the Tube Tubb, but it was a bit bent, used a stainless ring mandrel to straighten it out. As I recall it was a 12, and took a lot to get to it.

It fits, but it's too thin. My wedding ring is 6mm. 🤣 Will be good for melting later on if I ever find an Escudo. 😝

Nicely done! Been too long since I had gold in the scoop.

Thanks 1491,

It's been a while for me too.  ☺️

Very good soldier!   Lucky....maybe, but luck most times = preparation + persistence....and you have both.  🫡

Thanks Colonel,

The hunt was a spur of the moment decision, but I'm glad I did it. I'm really getting used to the Manticore, finding that it works very good under water.

This place is heavily detected but not like your beaches, and the cold weather is the best time to go if there is a negative tide.

With the settings I use, it feels like shooting fish in a barrel! If it's good it sounds good, however the advantage is clearly that the Manticore is good at finding things in iron conglomerate.

I did have some bad luck on the way back home, my truck blew up the turbo intercooler pipe, a common problem, but disconcerting all the same. 🫤

Fixed it myself with solid aftermarket stuff, only cost me $93, so I'm back on the road again. 🥳

More hunts to come. 🍀

Great hunt F350Platinum and some sweet finds! Finding a nice ring always seems to have a way of erasing any/all trash that we found, lol.

Sorry to hear about your turbo intercooler pipe, but glad you were able to get fixed. I have twin turbos on my 3.5 EcoBoost F150XLT, so not looking forward to having turbo problems, but I'm sure my time will come.

Thanks Sand Hunter,

I'm just glad it wasn't a more serious problem, but it loaded up the soot filter limping it back home. Took it for a 50 mile drive today, and no DTCs. 🤞

I love finding gold rings but old silver still keeps me going. Going to be doing a lot of relic hunts, hoping the Manticore (and soon D2 V4) will produce a lot more stuff.

I've pulled about 15 Barber and Mercury coins out of that beach the last couple years, not surprised there's just an old Washington left 😅

I run a catchcan to keep sludge from being injected back into my engine, and only thing I've done for turbo's is when I'm driving, every now and then, I'll switch over to sport mode and punch it hard to kick in the turbo's, just to keep things from sticking due to nonuse. I'm usually running in Eco or Normal mode, wife teases me by saying that I drive like a grandpa. But that's because I am a grandpa and at 68, I'm well past my hot-rodding days back when I had a 69' 302 Mustang, lol. Damn, sold that for $800.00 when I went into the military in 76', wish I still had.

Like anyone else, I love finding gold, but truth be told, Silver is my jam and I'm a Silver man at heart, probably due to starting to detect as a kid in 69'. Up until 14 years ago when I switched over to hunting beaches, I was a dirt guy, coinshooting old houses, churches, etc. Finding Silver coins was/is a big deal when dirt hunting, just like finding gold rings is the biggie when beach hunting. Although I always hoped but never expected to find gold while coinshooting, I did score a couple gold rings over the years when hunting permissions. How the heck does someone lose a gold ring in their own backyard?

We have a '24 Bronco Sport, talked my wife into getting a Badlands when she couldn't get in her convertibles anymore 😅 Love those lil buggers with the modes, it has 7 of them. I was really shocked by the ride for a truly off road vehicle. 🙂 The F350 has one mode, 4x4 with insane power. I pull a 40 foot toy hauler with it all summer. My wife won't let me take the Bronco on detecting trips, so I use the truck to give it some travel time, ya can't let a diesel just sit there. 🤔

I prefer relic hunting to beach hunting, but all my permissions are big farms so they're planted half the year. I have found 3 gold rings so far in the farms over almost 6 years of detecting, a 1728 22k mourning ring, an early 1900s 14k plain band, and this past March a 14k Masonic ring from the 1940s with a big diamond. They generally get lost riding horses. I also found a 10k unmarked gold band out behind my house on a hill overlooking the river. Definitely not impossible, but rare. Spanish silver is my favorite, I have quite a bit, but my oldest coin is from 1607, and it's English. 🤣
