Great that they posted this on YouTube.

I wish they had used the Echo Wave audio on the Gold Monster 2000. They set it up like their GM1K.

It handled hot rocks at that site really well

Thanks for the video

Nobody should be allowed to have that much fun.

Can someone clear something up for Me, I noticed they did not use the Echo Wave audio, is that audio in the default settings and is default what they were using in this video.?

I don't have a 2000 or a 1000, but I saw somewhere that Minelab put out instructions AFTER releasing the 2000 that greatly changes how most experienced VLF users setup that detector, and it greatly changes how well it works, at least in bad ground, can anyone elaborate on if using the recommended setup is that important.?  Would it have likely helped with the apparent insensitivity to very small gold seen in the video with the 2000 compared to the 1000 and GB2.?

Default at first startup is Sensitivity A2, Difficult ground type and Echo Wave audio ON

Goldmonster 2000 doesn’t use VCO audio. Instead it has audio that is close to a PI so it sounds softer than the Goldbug 2 and GM1K

They reacted to the 'sound' as I did in my first usage.  They really like to run buckets more than detectors, but they are coming around.

I agree with Jeff.  If they learn to use the audio they will like the 2000 more.

I know of a local guy that went back to the GM1000 after buying the GM2000, the 1000 works perfectly fine in our mild soils as far as ground handling goes and the 2000 in benign mode according to the manual and my rudimentary testing performs about the same as the GM1000, neither are very good on our common hot rocks.  The discrimination side of it is next to useless here, i'd find more gold in a day than iron targets in our gold areas, junk just isn't much of an issue at all.  Pellets certainly are but its discrimination isn't ideal for weeding them out, and the best discriminator I've ever found is the magnet on the end of my pick.

I had been trying to understand why he did so as other attributes of the 2000 are better plus he just spent a small fortune to buy one, it all comes down to the audio I guess, the 1000 really slams on targets with its silent no threshold and very loud audio, he's an older guy and I suppose that loud hit on targets was enough to make him prefer the GM1000.

People like that probably wish it had a 3rd audio mode, the GM1000 audio.

I really do not want to want the GM 2000, but that audio gives me pause. I just love the sound of that audio.

Handles ground well, check. Sensitive to small gold, check. For what I do, other detectors will work and be more adaptable. We have all heard the criticism of the shortcomings of the package this was put out in, and yet the sound of it in operation has me wanting one.

I am waiting to decide on what to get for next spring, but definitely did not want this to be on the list. But…the audio. Is that reason enough? Probably not, but….

  • Oh my! 1

It really comes down to the ground handling capabilities of the 2000. If you have areas that no other machine can run in, then the 2000 is the clear choice.
