The 19kHz First Texas machines are great units, and still good today although very dated models.   I was looking today as my daughter really loves the Gold Bug Pro for its ease of use, design, and the way it really slams on our $1 and $2 coins with a great target ID at depth which is all a kid her age wants to find to go buy stuff.   Another kid in her class at school's parents want to get him a detector for Christmas, and didn't want to spend much money of course, certainly not the sort of money you need to buy a decent detector in New Zealand with models like the Simplex and Vanquish being still out of their budget for a kids toy that may or may not even get used.

I figured I'd see what's happening with FT detector pricing, mainly to see how cheap they've got in the US never expecting them to be a viable choice for these people and stumbled across the Time Ranger Pro, shipped from USA to NZ with no import charges (included in the price) and free shipping for only $196 USD.   It's almost free as the shipping and duties would cost a likely $140 USD.

I don't know what these models cost in the US now but this is incredible pricing for a decent proven detector.  Here is the link on Amazon with the pricing.  With the Time Ranger Pro basically being a F19, a top of the line 19kHz model it's a great price and easily a viable choice for these people.
