I understand it from NF website and a dealer here in US it is for their entire product line. Any remaining stock in the US will be available for sale, but when it is gone there is no replenishment available. The main US distributor is working with NF Australia to resolve the issue . I sure hope this is only temporary and not permanent.  Any dealers want to chime in on what is happening?

EDIT: PLEASE KEEP IT ON TOPIC AND YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS TO YOURSELF!  STEVE H. WILL REMOVE THIS TOPIC FASTER THAN KLUNKERS WHITTY REPLY TO YOUR NEXT POST. 🤣

I’d ask Chris at AZO- isn’t he still the NF dealer/importer?

  • The title was changed to Will Nugget Finder Coils Be Available In The USA Ever Again?

maybe the uncertainty or the necessary price hikes has diminished sales prospective or profit margins and its a cut for bait situation...I think its more than 10% but its hard to read or find that information straight out and it seemed to be a fluid amount maybe its settled out?

I sent an email a week or so ago asking if they had resumed production of the coil for the GPX 6000 and got a reply that they had but they weren't shipping to the US.

"Hi Keith

We are finding it very difficult and expensive to send product to the U.S because of the new Tariff requirements.

I am not sure when we will resume supply at this stage.

Regards

Rohan"

Hopefully it's just temporary, I'd really like to pick up their Exceed 12x7.

I honestly don't see a 10% extra cost on a coil being a deal breaker from a USA detectorist purchasing a excellent aftermarket coil.

Here is what Grok AI had to say....

### Tariff Cost for Importing a Metal Detector Coil from Australia to the USA

Based on current U.S. import regulations as of December 2025, metal detector coils (accessories/parts for metal detecting equipment) are classified under Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code **9031.80.8085** (other measuring or checking instruments, appliances, and machines, not specified elsewhere). This covers non-electrical or specialized detection parts like search coils.

#### Key Tariff Details:

- **Standard Base Duty Rate**: 1.2% ad valorem (calculated on the customs value of the goods, typically the invoice price excluding shipping/insurance).

- **Australia-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA) Rate**: Normally 0% (duty-free) for qualifying Australian-origin goods, with no merchandise processing fee (MPF).

- **Additional 2025 Universal Tariff**: A 10% baseline ad valorem tariff applies to most imported goods from Australia (and other partners) effective April 9, 2025, overriding AUSFTA preferences for non-exempt items. Metal detector coils are **not exempt** (exemptions are limited to items like pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, lumber, certain minerals, and energy products).

#### Total Effective Tariff Rate:

- **10% ad valorem** (the 10% universal tariff applies; base duty is superseded).

- This is **not** a flat fee—it's 10% of the declared value. For example:

  - If the coil costs $200 (customs value), the tariff is **$20**.

  - If it costs $500, the tariff is **$50**.

- **Extra Cost Compared to Pre-2025 (or Domestic Purchase)**: The full 10%, as AUSFTA previously made it 0%. This is the "extra" tariff burden due to the recent policy changes.

#### Other Potential Costs:

- **Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF)**: 0.3464% of the shipment value (minimum $31.67, maximum $614.35 per entry). Not waived under AUSFTA for this tariff scenario.

- **Harbor Maintenance Fee (HMF)**: 0.125% if arriving by sea (not applicable for air/land).

- **De Minimis Threshold**: Shipments under $800 are no longer exempt from duties/tariffs (suspended since August 29, 2025), so even small personal imports incur the full 10%.

- **Sales Tax/VAT**: Added by your state upon delivery (varies 0–10%+); not a federal tariff.

- **Brokerage/Handling Fees**: $20–$100+ if using a customs broker or carrier like FedEx/UPS.

#### How to Confirm and Minimize Costs:

1. **Verify HTS Code**: Use the U.S. International Trade Commission's HTS Search tool (hts.usitc.gov) with "metal detector coil" or 9031.80.8085. Provide product details for a binding ruling if unsure (via CBP).

2. **Claim Australian Origin**: Ensure the seller provides a Certificate of Origin to attempt AUSFTA qualification (though the 10% tariff likely applies regardless).

3. **Calculate Precisely**: Use tools like Flexport's Tariff Simulator (tariffs.flexport.com) or CBP's duty estimator—input the exact value, HTS code, and origin.

4. **Shop Alternatives**: Consider U.S.-made coils (e.g., from Garrett or Minelab's U.S. lines) to avoid tariffs entirely, or check for tariff refunds if the item qualifies for re-export/drawback programs.

If you provide the coil's price, brand/model, or invoice details, I can help estimate the exact dollar amount. For official advice, consult a licensed customs broker or CBP directly.

Interesting...

Australia and the US have a free trade agreement so most stuff doesn't have a tariff. If they are subject to the new tariff it's going to be 10%. Maybe 10% is too much to be competitive?

Recently discussing an Australia purchased NF coil the tariff or duty (?) was somewhere in the 60-70 dollars on top of the shipping cost. Cost of product was $380ish+sh so I think it came to 5 bills or so at the end…
