I wish someone in America would construct a waterproof case for it like they have for expensive cameras. There has to be a way to keep the fragile parts from taking the brunt of water detecting.

Just talked to a friend who is ordering a couple AQ's for friends and he's telling me his distributer can not get New AQ's? I wonder if this is the end? His distributer connection is a detecting shop in Florida...He just got one for another friend of mine in Oct 2025..

Funny you should mention that. I have a friend here in Florida who just ordered one through a guy named Heath Jones, who I think is in Michigan. He said FT has to build it. My friend is legally blind, but with some limited sight, and is 78 years old.  I warned him about the care and numerous functions associated with the machine, but he didn't care. He saw a video about a guy finding a lot of gold on the beach and thinks this is the magic bullet. I wished him luck.

You could contact SeaGhost; they might be interested in making the casing for the Impulse.

It's strange, but why didn't you apply additional protection, special silicone, to the program adjustment knobs, as well as to the plugs where headphones and batteries are connected? is it here on the forum that many owners have offered silicone protection for the unit, for additional protection from salt water? personally, my friend has been using AQ for four years on the beaches of the ocean, in France and salt lakes, in Israel, very often the water is immersed up to a meter., there are no problems with water penetration into the device.... You probably should have listened to the person here on the forum who advised everyone to protect themselves with silicone, extra from water.

As Steve mentioned above, and to add to it... I was one of the early original buyers of the AQ. It was supposed to be limited to 99 machines. Only FT knows what number they are at now.

Problems were just being discovered and reported to FT as FT wanted feedback to help improve the final AQ.

I did use some dielectric grease on the connections following one of the suggestions to help combat corrosion. Your friend should buy a lottery ticket. He is already ahead of the game.

Ukraine or Russia, I believe... have a friend that communicates with him that lives in Russia. I seen a box he had or someone had worked up. I do not see how it would work, more like one you would put a TDI in? But it did have AQ on it.. I do not think there is away to open the AQ without destroying the case.
