Hi,

Does anyone know this White's Super Max Professional model?

An acquaintance has this detector, but I've searched online and in old catalogs, and I can't find any reference to it.

Apparently, there are also some rather specific coils, including one about 65 cm (26") in diameter?!

The photos are from a website that no longer exists; it's the only trace I've found of this model.

I'm therefore looking for as much information as possible (instructions, catalogue, specifications...).

Thanks.

I've seen a lot of older White's detectors when they were new and this looks like nothing I've seen before. The box side graphics almost look experimental, or possibly near the end of a prototype ready for production. What interests me is the user waterproofed toggle switch to the left of the meter with the "SM20" and "SM30" options.

Looks as if this detector saw a lot of use in the rain and/or on the beach. The coil labels look to be worn off or maybe there were none to start as in again a prototype. The "GEB/DISC" mode says it has synchronous phase discrimination capability and the "GEB MAX" (Ground Exclusion Balance) would allude to it having extra all-metal non-motion mode depth. I would put this detector possibly in a time frame just before White's 6000 Di series.

It's a Coinmaster 5000/D Series 2, most likely produced by the Inverness factory for the Euro market. Inverness did this a lot, they would take a design from Sweet Home, make some modifications, and create a new name. They often bought the parts from Sweet Home and assembled the detectors in Scotland. No idea on the SM20/N/SM30 switch, never seen it before.

Maybe the switch is to select the coil size, but it appears to be a 3 position switch, N for Normal?

Thank you for all your replies.

I'm trying to delve deeper into this with my retired friend (who lives quite far from me).

I asked him if he remembered this switch, and if he could take some pictures of his detector with all those enormous coils (he's someone who's owned a lot of detectors for a very long time).

According to him, this particular detector was delivered directly by the sales representative from White's France at the time.

That would be my guess. Probably there was a SuperMax20 and SuperMax30 coils.

Hi,

Here's a first photo while we wait for the others, one of the coil which looks enormous (not measured).

Carl is quite right because we can see Inverness/Scotland on the coil.
