Final Gold Monster 2000 Prototype Cover Approved Production Started

Here's pictures of the final prototype, going into production.

Got together with Rob Allison to try this on his Gold Monster 2000 as I don't have any in stock.

Rob confirmed it is a perfect nice tight fit, all holes align, speaker mesh in the right place, big plastic viewing window.  It's a go!

One caveat.  Because this cover is so well fitted, the little rubber plug that covers the headphone jack, it has to be removed temporarily, put the cover on, then put the little plastic plug back on.  Takes a second to pop it off and back on.

Merry Christmas to all and looking forward to 2026.  Supposedly, I am supposed to have a certificate of occupancy January 26th. for the new warehouse.  I'll believe it when I see it.

By the way.  A lot of folks don't understand what that wrap around is on the upright under the battery housing.  That little piece may save you a lot of money.  Minelab has molded this clip into the upright that you are supposed to jam your coil cable into.  I can tell you that doing that repeatedly will eventually short that cord out.  So instead of messing with trying to wedge that cable into that plastic clip, we just give you a wrap around with a hook and loop closure to make it quick and easy to secure your coil cable.  It might not be as big a deal now, with only one coil available.  However, as other coils become available this will make it much easier to swap out coils.

Also as you can see it in the photo on the Gold Monster 1000, there is a small hole in the wrap around, that is so you don't lose the wrap around.  You unscrew the little metal cable that keeps you from losing the battery door, remove it from the battery door and thread the cable through the hole in the wrap around. Then thread the cable back through the battery door and screw it together.  Now both the battery door and the wrap around are safe from being lost.

I know these are little picky details, but I'm a gold prospector too, and I don't like minor aggravations.  I'm out there to find gold, not spend 5 minutes trying to wedge a coil cable into a molded piece of plastic.  I've noticed the more frustrated I get the less likely I am to get on the gold... I think it's because I'm getting old and crabby.  🤪

Disappointed that the battery housing isnt protected. Super simple addition, just a one velcro tabbed wrap around with the slot for the upright. I still want a set of course, my GM2K is getting some serious dirt and scratch issues from so much use. @Doc if you aren't going to make the set with the battery housing cover, can you supply a small piece of the required cloth so we can make one ourselves? Not trying to be a smartass, just practical. I will buy a set regardless....

Won't know until I see what import duty with the tariff is going to be.  Worst of all textiles have a ridiculously high duty to begin with.

I'm hoping to keep it around the $75 mark.  Fingers crossed. Last time I got nicked 50% for import and tariffs.  Usually it's only 15%

To keep things on schedule. I'm not going to add the battery housing cover right now.  It would just slow things down and I am getting bombarded with people telling me the GM2000 is taking a beating.  Is this machine unstable?  Is it falling over a lot?  That's the problem with a small coil when the control box is top heavy, they seem to flip over easily.  I am assuming that is what is happening.

So what I am contemplating is to have an additional piece designed and fabricated, after the initial run, that can be retro fitted to the battery tube.

Yes, its the top heavy thing, without an aftermarket stand, it falls over just by looking at it.... 🙄

Terrific that you've decided to make a battery housing cover as well...I am so relieved and thankful! Anxiously waiting with cash in hand 🙂
