F350 Platinum...I see that it was worth it for you to go out into the field ... and pull out another Spanish silver..👍 ,,
I also like musket balls,,, especially intact ones ... because they show well the true depth of objects from this period..especially in fields that are not plowed..

Thanks JCR,

I've got to get some new places to hunt, walking for 6 hours and coming back with 2-10 pieces is a lot of swinging for not a lot of "thing-ing". 😅 I have some in the works but can't catch up with the landowners, it seems.

While I was there a bunch of rabbit hunters showed up and thankfully they stayed on the other side of the field. It's a little safer than deer hunting, they stay at the edge of the field. My only worry was that my truck was over there. 😬

Thanks El Niño,

I'm blessed to live in a region that was first settled by the English with a lot of private property still not developed. There is a network of farmers here, and one permission can lead to another.

While I have a lot of acres in my pocket, a lot of those acres have either nothing in them, or I'll come upon a small area of activity.

The oldest relics I'll find are from the 1600s, but if I'm finding them it shows I'm doing the best I can, it is very satisfying. 🙂

I do like cobs! Nice coin.

The pimple tombac is an early type common in england from 17th c.

Except for The 5c, loks like stuff from fields here.

I'm amassing quite a collection, but still need the heftier Reales, 2, 4, and 8, and of course an Escudo, you lucky dog. 😝 Got lots of bits of the 2. My buddy found a 2 Real on one of my permissions! I have found some Maravedis coins however.

Hey, y'all came here and did this 🤣 My ancestors settled New England, but Virginia is older. Don't think I'll find anything older than 1607. 🤔

That's what the button looked like when it came out of the ground, it appears to be a shinier material filled in with a denser metal like lead.

If the outer shell is Tombac, it's a lot nicer than my other Tombac stuff.

Yes, many different types based on the pimple type. Some are silver filled with lead or alloy. Others single casting tombac.

Found lots of these on sites from Charles I onwards, up to I'd say 1700.

Manufactured in Birmingham  England,  in the main, and shipped to good ole USA.
