If the detector is under warranty they certainly should do that.

Very true.  My experience with Garrett’s warranty is that they go beyond that by quite a bit. I sent detectors in that were far past expiration of warranty, and they fixed/replaced without charge and were very nice about it.

They have always been very good that way for me, and also good about answering questions.

I've been voluntarily using Garrett equipment since 1978 because of their rugged quality and reliable design, they work well enough to have found most of my best coins and relics, and the fact they stand behind what they manufacture. While most of the American manufacturers are now gone, they continue in business dedicating themselves to their customers as they always have. Nobody makes the perfect detector, if they did there would only be one brand everyone uses. That wouldn't be much fun or interesting would it.

Rusty, if you happen to be reading this, thank you for your help and attention dear friend.

Garrett's warranty department is fantastic. The broken lower camlock is going to be replaced and they are sending an additional spare.

Told you so!  However, be sure to loosen the bolt on those before using them extensively - my lower one also broke after the first couple of days of use.
