I have found my share of this type of gold this past season, and it truly is invisible to the axiom.  Now before the  6000 boys start talking smack, it also could not see a piece of this type of gold. The larger piece picture in my fingers is about 49 grams. As you can see it is full on all sides. The smaller piece is about 14 grams. They are both pretty solid pieces, but the PI'S just don't hear them unless they are pretty much touching the coil. These were found with the Manticore.  The larger one banged hard at 8+ inches deep.  To my amateur ear, they sound just like a piece of wadded up foil. This type of gold rings up as a very strong 02 on the Manticore.  My theory was this gold must be flour type gold compressed into the quarts pocket, opposed to being molten when formed. I proved that theory to myself when I was poking and prodding on a piece, and some broke off into flour type gold. I just wanted to post this to show how important having a vlf is in this game. It's not only for cleaning up the tiny bits. In my case the vlf was my only option to find the larger pieces. 

I hope this helps someone find some big ones they never knew were there!

5x8. Factory settings. Sensitivity probably 22.  I literally use the Manticore as a turn on and go prospecting machine.

This won't be any surprise to beach jewelry guys.  A fine gold chain will also read 02, as gold isn't conductive enough for the detector to pick up more than one link at a time, even if the links are touching.  We dig a lot of 01 - 04 bits of aluminum foil hoping for a chain.  The fine gold lattice in that rock is probably similar to a chain.

That said, I've found super tiny foil bits with Algoforce in Ultra Fine on the beach.  Maybe not as tiny as Manticore running at 30 or 32 with M9 or M15 on dry sand, but close.

I will start to carry with me a small box for the tiny bits of non ferrous picked up by the manti........i just love the ideas of how sensitive it is ...............sometimes:)

There is times when a VLF is better than a PI. but these specs were found with an old ML-3000 the largest one (first photo) was very deep at about 3 feet but it had 17 ounces in it after crushing it. The other ones I can not remember how deep they were except  the one with the coin it was about 10"

Gold Junkie, you could make some very nice jewelry with that rock!  Have it cut with a saw and cab it for rings.  I did that for my wife using the gold I’ve found.  I provided all the gold to cast the rings, including the gold/quartz specimen to a jeweler.  The appraisal value when they were done is many multiple times spot value.
