Hello from Central Illinois. This is my first post on this site. I watched the Gold Fever TV show for years till my cable company stopped carrying it. i really enjoyed that show. I have my fair share of pans & classifiers, only one sluice, a blue bowl, a Minelab Exterra 705 and a couple of pinpointers. I keep thinking about building a Franken-land-dredge.

Unfortunately I don't get to go out very much at all, and have to mainly get a rush from pay dirt. Which if you figure out how much wild gold costs for a weekend to find it, paydirt's not a bad way to go. My wife had a stroke 3 years ago which left her with vascular dementia and me as a 24/7 caregiver. A daughter comes and stays with her a couple of weeks each year which gives me a break from the constant stress. She's coming the first two weeks in July this year.

For my summer vacation this year I'm thinking about going up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to pan Lake Superior's black beach sand and hopefully metal detect for large copper nuggets. I've been skiing a few times in the U.P. but never hunting for minerals. If anyone has any advice on where to go or things to do in the U.P. I'm all ears.

Thanks

Jeff
