I've always been a big fan oft the Detech Ultimate coil, they got it just about right for a VLF coil, good size, very low weight and it just works so well.   It's competitor the Nel Tornado works just a well but heavier and often more expensive.

Now it's quite hard to get Nel coils but Detech is still pumping them out for new detectors.

I know of two reputable dealers now selling it, you can buy it direct from Bulgaria at Thrace Metal Detectors which had it first, no surprise when it's made in Bulgaria.  I've personally bought a few coils off this dealer with no issues, often cheaper to buy directly than their ebay listings too.

It's now also available in the UK from Spin A Disc Metal detectors, many Europeans will know this dealership.

The other option for people in other countries that want some security with their purchase is buying it off Ebay, if you search for ultimate coil vortex you'll find it then you can have the protection of Ebay and Paypal.

This coil should be great on the Vortex, and I'm looking forward to getting one soon I just wanted to wait and see if more dealers had it rather than Thrace before placing an order as it seemed too good to be true, thank you Garrett for not making the detector chipped so these aftermarket people can make coils for it, a rare thing in this day and age.

So far it seems the only model coil Detech make for the Vortex, that's no surprise as I'm sure it's their most popular VLF coil, although I'd like to also buy the Arrow, it's an awesome coil for covering ground fast for good shallow targets.  I use it after the New Years Fireworks on the beach at the lake front as thousands of people hit the beach to watch the fireworks.  I have it on my Garrett AT Gold but would like it for my Vortex as I'd much prefer to use it for the job.

I'm liking the vortex vx9. 2 tone mode is working really well. I would like to see the 2 tone in the Apex. The separation is great with it in that mode having full iron disc.

The Arrow for the Vortex would be a killer coil.

That would be a killer combo. On the Simplex +, I didn’t have quite enough depth. On the F75, it had surprisingly good depth. I need to give that coil some more time. You can practically run through areas you’d normally ignore.
