When thinking about specific comments surrounding the Legend 2 release by the Nomads and consumers pining for a 9" concentric (coming in May), I recall that when XP released the D2 they provided the option of the 9" concentric coil, up front.

With the Nokta Leg 2 the hype for the future 9" coil may be built into the marketing, alongside the expressed consumer demand. Should I ever decide to move on from the XP D2 9" concentric, there is a real market available. When you think of the purchase price at release of the XP D2 you can see that even though it was considered expensive it contained value: you actually did get two detectors for the purchase price in addition to expressily valuable consumer side optionality.

XP gets a lot of criticism and much of it is valid, but when it comes to the value of their D2 detector line, they are solid. So kudos to XP in this case for recognizing that experienced detectorists have a clue about which coil will suit them best at initial purchase, and providing that optionality up front.

Nokta Legend 2 9” DD coil has been publicly stated by Nokta to be released to the public in 6 weeks so sometime in March.

The 9” Legend 2 coil was always planned as an accessory coil, not a stock coil.

I’ve owned every available Deus 2 FMF coil and by trial and error found out which one was best for me (11”) sold the others and then waited like everyone else for the HF2 coil which I was lucky to receive before 50% tariffs were placed on that coil and shipments to the USA were delayed.

So none of these companies can always have everything all squared away at release or even later down the road.

I think you might be confused by the XP coils as I don't believe any of the XP D2 coils are concentric, I'm pretty sure they're all Double D coils.

Good explaination by Steve H. on Concentric vs DD coils for those who may not be familiar.

This is true.  As a matter of fact, I have not seen a concentric or coaxial elliptical coil released of any size, OEM or 3rd Party, for any of the most popular Simultaneous Multifrequency Detectors released since the Equinox 600/800.  That list includes the Minelab Vanquish (first and second gen), Nox 700/900, Manticore, Xterra Elite, the Nokta Legend and the entire Score series, the XP Deus 2, and the Garrett Apex and Vortex.  They have all been DD's FWIW.  Legend 2's announced OEM coil offerings mirror what Minelab has released for Manticore.

Time has a tendency to soften painful memories.  Love my D2, but XP did not exactly have a smooth D2 initial launch in 2022.   I recall that they were initially only shipping D2 packages with the 11" coil for several weeks.  I remember this distinctly because my preference was the 9" coil.  Individual coils were not available for purchase for even longer and it was a few months before the 13x11 coil was available and 3+ years before the 9" HF2 elliptical was released.  Things were even worse for the Manticore rollout with nothing but the stock 11" available for months.  Same was true of Garrett accessory coils for Vortex.

The fact that L2 will ship at launch with both the 11" and the 8x5" in the box is a welcome improvement from the accessory coil release delays that now seem to be the norm for major detector manufacturers.  If the L2 9" is to follow up in about 6 weeks, I consider that a win.

I sent a request to Nokta asking if they will consider, upon 9" coil release, a Legend 2 package with: (9" coil only). That is the only coil I would ever need for a Legend 2, the other coils would be wasteful, and would only take up space with minimal opportunity to resell in a saturated market for those items. I do know that Nokta does listen, so I do have some hope.

That might be a good, popular single coil economy bundle option alternative to the two-coil pack.  In any event, if they don't do that, the good news is that Nokta accessory coils are priced reasonably, with the L2 9" priced out at ~$165, just over half the cost of the 9" Manticore coil, and even better compared to XP.
