Call me a greenhorn, kook, drongo, galah, numpty, or dill, but could you have acid treated it or slabbed the best parts of that and trim off the fat to make a collector’s or jewelry grade specimen out of it? Or I guess the gold was too flakey and just deposited on the surface, and would have fallen off anyway?

I’ve never found a gold specimen yet, but I’m still looking - that would be my holy Grail.

Nice work cleaning it up though, about 2 grams is a nice little find!

I’ve never found a gold specimen yet, but I’m still looking - that would be my holy Grail.

I actually did slice it first, but nothing was visible except for what I could originally see on the surface.  I think the same way as you do, but some just need to be crushed . I suppose I should call this a piece of ore, and not so much a specimen.
