Get Outta My Grill!

Last day of detecting here in Florida, we're heading back home soon with uncertainty about what happened to the house, outside heat pump units quit, and hopefully draining the pipes kept the PVC from cracking. 😬 Things are "warming up" back home, some temps in the 50s in the coming week.

@Joe D.(Rich) and I got an early start, this place is an hour away, but it was worth it. Low tide (not very low) was right about when we got there. 

There were at least 3 detectorists on the beach when we got there. Classic Florida, 🙄 I don't see that many anywhere I go back home.

It was a beautiful day, light wind, but it got pretty warm in this spot, and we got driven out by the waves on the way back, we only got a bit farther than the last person in the photo. I didn't want to climb over the broken cement blocks, but Rich gave me the high sign to get over there. 

He had found a spot where he was digging quarter after quarter, so that was awesome, there have been no hotspots at all in the 18 days I've been here. 🫤 If you've been following my posts, it's been really lean...

Rich got a lot of clad today, I got quality instead of quantity. First up is a Sacagawea Dollar, and a 195x silver quarter! I can't make out the last digit, but it's the only coin I've got here that rings! 🥳 Very unusual to find a silver coin of any kind here. 

Here are the rest of the coin finds, I think I found as many quarters as Rich in that spot, but he raked 'em in later:

20 coins today. Rich got more like 50.

I also got a funky old relic buckle and some other unrecognizable stuff. This beach is a Treasure Coast spot, but no really old coins despite the erosion. 🫤 They are about to replenish this area so I'm glad we got a shot at it.

Ok, on to what my title is about. 😅 We had to leave the first beach after getting totally trashed by the waves. The tide was coming in fast, there wasn't much time to get out.  We had to climb over all that broken concrete with waves washing onto it. 😬

We went to a nice calm inlet beach with clear water, and I found some of the coins above.  My best and craziest find there was this: 

A Grill! It may be 10k, it may be 18k plated brass, I don't know 🤷‍♂️ but it was a solid 20. Brass might not sound off that low. 🤔 I'll take it to the jeweler when I get back home for analysis. 

It was kinda nice to go out bigger than I expected, can't wait until next year! I'll do a recap next week sometime comparing this year to last year.

   Been a blast detecting with you again Bob! Glad you got the better targets today!🏆 You definitely put the time in the last two weeks, with little reward! Great way to close out your Florida "season"!😆 Seems like the ring return at least earned you some Karma cash-in today! Besides, i did get a ring last week, so it was your turn!🍀👍👍

I couldn't have had a better guide Rich, and using the same detectors really made it easy to compare notes on stuff. 🏆 I learned a lot more about detecting here, regardless of the lean finds, I had a blast too. 🥳 Many more days than I originally booked! 😅

Shame the weather was uncooperative, but ya get what ya get. 🤔 I'm very satisfied with what I was able to tweak out in difficult and competitive conditions. I also booked a ton of karma points! 

Thanks so much for taking the time to detect, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Outta your grill for another year! 🤣

That's a nice chunk! Looks like gold to me, dug a few and most are solid gold..9k to 12k.  Its gold and we take it in any form!
