Just saw this ad for a new XP Deus 2 package. Remote, HF2 coil, WSA ll Stereo headphones for $1599 US.

Personally, I would rather have something similar to that package but replace the remote with the WS6 master for $400 to $500 less.

XP are touting the stereo function and Pitch 2 for gold prospecting with this package and also are calling this a great package for relic hunting.

"Ideal On Mineralized Ground" I just haven't seen Pitch 2 handle mineralized ground well at all. Maybe V4.1 will be better.

Also, I must be missing something. I thought the stereo function did not work with Relic and Goldfield.

Pitch 2 has been fantastic for micro jewelry hunting.

That is correct.  But I don't think they are touting multiprocessing/stereo for Gold and Relic per se.  It just makes sense that all D2 bundles going forward include ST phones while the existing stock of mono phones are depleted and phased out.

Hi Jeff.

According to the information, you are correct that Mono, Goldfield and Relic modes are not supported in Stereo.

I have been using the Deus 2 configuration you mentioned, i.e. WS6 + WSA II and HF elliptical coil, since last fall, when I built this configuration myself and I am satisfied.

I paid 1080 USD in Czech republic.

As soon as the weather improves, I will film a real-life comparison of XP ORX, XP Deus1 and XP Deus2 (WS6) in nature while searching for microgold in streams and rivers in the Czech Republic (we mostly have gold pieces 0.1- 0.0001 g.

The smallest piece I've found so far with the above configuration weighed 0.003g in the stream sand.

I'm using version 3.1, the stereo version is not yet supported on my device, its support is promised in version 4.1.

Now you are going where there are more targets.

I am currently building a similar custom setup, but with much broader functionality. My key objective is to achieve full underwater stereo sound.

The main components of the build include:

HF2 coil and shaft;

Underwater kit for the Deus 2 remote;

WS6 ST headphones and bone conduction headphones.

Significant upgrades are planned: from replacing the cable in the bone conduction headphones to implementing a custom pinout for true underwater stereo. This will be the third iteration of my WS6 pressure housing, incorporating entirely new ideas and technologies.

Cool pursuit but lots of questions here.

Why are you even bothering with the WS6 ST (vs. just an WSA ST) if you are building your iteration out of the remote?  I can see it if you are building an ST variant of what you are showing in the pics.

Even with a custom pinout on the remote connector, is there access to both L and R audio channel hardwired connections on the internal board and enough spare pins on the connector?  Why not just stick with the WS6 ST in your pictured housing and ST wired submersible phones if it is in a similar dive rated enclosure?

Why does the bone phone cable need to be replaced and not just the connector?  I do hate the XP bone phone cable flex (or lack of it), though.

How do you get around the Bone Phone lock in to Sq audio?

If going submerged with the RC why not use submersible ST wired phones with higher fidelity than the bone phones after you rewire the RC connector?

After it is all said and done, not sure the juice is worth the squeeze to just get submerged ST/multiprocessing.  Mono multiprocessing might be good enough.  JMO.

Hi.

I also printed a waterproof case on a 3D printer and I still have to figure out the charging connector.

I just want to protect the WS6 from drowning in water during prospecting.

I use wireless headphones WSA II.

If I ever have to dive, I will buy the classic waterproof Deus2 controller.

If you are interested and the forum here allows it, I can insert a link to download the .stl file for the 3D printer. I am not their author and I paid about 5 USD for the download.

No, you misunderstood me. I see no point in using the remote control unit, primarily due to its outdated electronics and the lack of hardware stereo support. The WS6 Master outperforms the remote in every aspect except for visualization, and that is certainly not enough to make me buy it.

My plan is to use the D2 underwater kit (antenna with mount and waterproof plugs) and integrate it all into a custom housing.

The bone-conduction headphones are also wired for mono, so a full cable replacement is required to switch them to stereo. On top of that, I’ll need to implement a dedicated stereo power amplifier with its own power supply to properly drive the bone-conduction system. I plan to 3D print the housing and then vacuum-impregnate it with a special compound. It’s an ambitious project, but it’s not my first time...
