I've been checking out the wealth of info on the DFX here for a few days.  I started detecting about 15 years ago with an AT Pro, found that I was good at digging clad, but struggled to find silver and I think I became frustrated and life & work intervened for a while.  I picked up a DFX through an online auction and it really looks like it has been sitting unused in a closet since 2005-I'm almost afraid to take it out and beat it up.  It has the serial tag with the wording "Spring Spec." and came with a padded White's carry bag, headphones, and the treasure wise digging tool in the pic.  I've read quite a few posts & I'm trying to find a copy of "Digging Deeper with the DFX."  I went into a local Detectorist shop and did find "Understanding White's DFX."  And, a sweet deal on a 13" used Detech coil for my AT PRO!  I watched the White's DFX video series on Youtube.  I'm looking forward to getting out once the ground thaws a bit more in MN or perhaps heading a few states South for a break to try the DFX out.  But, I will try to chisel my way/Propane torch through the frost in my garden and plant a few targets to get acquainted first!  Thanks much to the members on this site that post all the good content.

Hi @FeDuke. Welcome aboard. Think you hit the right board. SO, if you had your first hunt with your DFX it would be nice to read about your opinion. Good Luck & Have Fun 👍😎🍀🤞

Yes rv! There is a lot of digging to be done here!  we've had a couple "mini-thaws," but its not normal for this time of year.  South facing sunny spots will sucker you in to doing some digging, but ground is still pretty hard and the snow is blowing again today.   I need to use this time wisely to iron out some programs, and make some gear acquisitions-find some folks doing some pre-spring cleaning out of closets, etc.  Good time to buy a mower!

Hang in there .  It sounds like that DFX will get it's beep on soon.

It is a good time to look for gear deals , lots of new models coming out and lots of older ones being replaced by them.

I looked at my detector today.. then put another propane bottle in the heater. It was zero out this morning and it just started snowing again . Several weeks till I swing up any beeps .

A mower could work as a snowblower if you go out often enough ! 😜

Yes rv!  You have it worse than we do.  Now, it looks like we will have 7 days of above 32F temps (it hit 50 today), then back down again next week.  Usually we aren't out of the woods til mid April then have to contend with the melt and really sloppy conditions for a while.  I can probably dig some beeps this weekend but it will be messy on top and probably not fully thawed.

Good luck with the snow pushing/blowing!  I'm thankful for my 7hp Toro Snowmaster.
