Had an interesting chat the other day with a prospector from France. We did a couple of sessions together a few years back, so I know he’s legit ,and his beaches are absolutely covered with WWII bullets and shrapnel.

We were talking about our gold tallies, since he gets out there way more than I do.

Thats his:

-2025: 32 grams using the D2 with the 11" coil
-2026 (so far): 70 grams with the Whites TDI

I don’t have an explanation… but I can’t help wondering: what’s his secret?:)

Could be the old PI versus VLF thingy going on.. My Algoforce is quickly catching up to the combined total of gold jewellery found with both the D2 and Equinox 800 over the years.. It's more stable on both wet/salty sand and black sand than the multifrequency VLF detectors, even with larger coils.. Also, I continue to be impressed by its raw power (which I imagine the Whites TDI also has), which translates into finding tiny gold targets like ear or toe rings at considerable depths..

Interesting! which coil do you use on the beach

I do have a good PI the Goldscan GS5c from pulsepower (like a TDI)

Does he have a quantity of Black Sand??? The D2 struggles with moderate black sand.

Will ask ,told him to try a Manti but with his latest results he is very fond of his TDI

For beach hunting with the AlgoForce I use a Nugget Finder 14x9'' Evo or a 11x6'' Detech.. For finding deeper targets the Evo beats both the 15'' and 18'' round Coiltek coils for the Equinox.. I also use a PMC 18x6'' rectangular coil.. Compared to the big Nox coils, both the Evo and PMC coils run much stabler at higher sensitivities, even on beaches with black sand.. This stability helps locate the deeper targets that my VLF detectors keep missing.. Both the Evo and PMC coils tune to 'ultra fine' on the Algo.. The Detech only tunes to 'fine' but that's not much of a worry when hunting for larger (more lucrative) gold or silver rings, as opposed to hunting 'micro-jewellery' (which is usually a time-consuming and fruitless pursuit)..

How does the Goldscan GS5c run on your beaches?

So i got one 11" TDI coil,1 "Manta" 11" coil(the prototype of the impulse),1 18" Detech coil somehow i managed to find stuff. But to be honest i would have beneficiated of mentoring i just played with the settings till i found a relative stability .I need to try harder.May try the next couple of days.

Crikey! That sounds like a great collection of coils to muck around with! Is the 'Manta' waterproof? If it is you've got a wading coil as well.. It's well worth playing around with the Goldscan's settings and getting to know these coils.. VLF to PI is a bit of a learning curve but it'll pay off in finds.. Good luck! Let us know how you got on..
