While I'm intrigued by the multiprocessing options and stereo headphones that XP have released, I've found their explanation of when and how these might be useful in the field to be lacking.

Therefore, I want to hear from people who have a pair of stereo headphones and have played around some or all of the four multiprocessing options. How have they helped you so far? Are there specific kinds of situations where you used one of these to your benefit?

I'll start. I've been mostly using a modified version of the dual axis setup (option 4). My modified version involves copying over the settings from the Sensitive Full Tones program (tweaked to my sites, of course) to channel 1 in a custom slot in the multiprocessing menu (option 5, "User"). On channel 2, I have the all-metal option with the volume turned down to 7.

This has been a great setup at some of my "hunted out" sites. The all-metal channel is deeper and more sensitive than Sensitive Full Tones, so I feel like I'm hearing more targets. The combination of programs works well together: All-metal tells me something is there, while SensFT gives me an idea of what it might be or (if I get a faint signal on that channel) that it's probably deep.

On a Civil War site that I've pounded, I got about eight bullets in a couple of hours using this setup. While some were obvious bullet signals in SensFT (probably just didn't walk over them previously), others gave only the faintest signal in that program but a more definite one in AM. Sometimes those broken SensFT/solid AM signals were iron, but every one was around a foot deep -- not too shabby, especially since I was using the 9" coil.

The audio of this combination wasn't hard or exhausting to listen to. I think that's because I'm used to SensFT, and the low square setting on the AM channel was distinct from what I heard in SensFT. I also created a custom dual reactivity setup that also has SensFT settings on channel 1, but so far have found that running two disc programs so similar to each other makes everything sound good -- even deep iron that my dual axis setup more accurately IDs. There's probably a version of dual reactivity that would work better for me, but I haven't had time to tinker with settings yet.

Overall, I'm happy with what I've seen so far, but feel that I've barely scratched the surface of what these settings can do.

I've found similar to you. I don't care about knowing how deep a target is, I care about reliably identifying good targets as deep as possible. I find the chorus effect too 'busy' for my brain. I like to use full tones high square on ch1 and AM lo square on ch2 and this definitely increases 'alertiveness' on deep good targets.

I'm mostly just confused by how to use that feature. It seems to help deeper targets come through more clearly, but I'm not sure why I should use chorus tones instead of, say, just a lower reactivity.

It's times like these when I wish Gary was still making videos for XP. They haven't posted anything about any of these new features lately.

Did Gary go over to the (Minelab) side?

I'm not sure, but he no longer sees to be working for XP and is instead doing videos on a variety of detectors. Not sure if there was a falling out between him and XP or something else happened.

Gary is now brand independent and reviews various machines and teaches how to navigate and set them up and dispenses generic detecting skill school advice instead of tying it solely to XP devices.

Thanks Chase----Good to know---I've always enjoyed watching/reading Garys reviews---a great "down to earth" guy.

I have been experimenting with it a little bit but I'm not ready to make a decision yet. So far I've only tried some of the factory settings on a heavy iron colonial site. This weekend I'm going to a civil war site with deep targets unfortunately the emi is terrible there. I would love to try the AM. mode but only if the conditions allow me too. After this weekend I should have enough data to form an opinion.

I've tried AM and Chorus, I've used Forager and Lokator's posted settings. I have yet to try Lokator's beach settings, I may do that this week at a local beach that also has heavy EMI in one area.

It's nice to have some "canned" programs, walking through the settings for Forager helped navigate which buttons to use. I noticed it is not all that clear sometimes.

I've been having MI-6 pinpointer issues since V3.1, so that is mucking up my ability to go a full day. 🫤 I'd like to know if anyone else has this issue. The RC I have it on is suspect, as it does it with all coils, and both of my pinpointers. I get a noise relative to the program's intensity when turning the pointer off, and coil disconnect. 🤔 With one the coil comes back showing a dead battery, and doesn't always recover after a restart. Sadly the RC is a newer one.

I did find that my old Relic program under V2 hit targets better than the new ones, it is more straightforward, but will need adjustments. It's a shame that I can't just take advantage of the new firmware with an old and trusted program.

I agree with those who assert that knowing how deep a target is can be useless, I will dig and search as long as it takes for any good ID. 🤷‍♂️

I was hoping that the "stereo" addition would be simple spatial awareness, which would help with target separation and pinpointing, instead it seems more like an effect pedal for a guitar player that has too many effects 🤪
