Anybody know where I can find the Knowledge Base and Treasure Talk posts? They were there not too long ago. Was wanting to copy the posts for the GPX 5k and GPZ 7k but they are now gone.

Hi. I hope this post may shed some light.

Sorry I could not manage to quote this post so I've done a copy/paste, hope it works out.

Here's the link to that post:

I only get "404 - Page not found on Minelab's site..

Does this article exist elsewhere?

Anyway, Happy hunting!

Still a copy at Minelab India -

I have replaced the link in the original post on this thread and elsewhere with this one. I wrote a large series of articles for Minelab but not sure I can repost them on the forum since they are wiping Treasure Talk out. All the old stuff is gone from the corporate website, a real loss. You might be able to coax more of the old articles out of Internet Archive, but it is balky. Seems Minelab is doing something on their site that blocks most of the archived work from appearing easily, but you can get to most of them with patience.

Looks like saving these texts may require some work, just hope enough ppl take up the task.

Anyway HAPPY HUNTING

Sadly, they got rid of Treasure talks and the people doing them for the most part in favour of social media marketing and people with a lot of followers to do so.

This said it all really.

Welcome to Treasure Talk, Minelab's metal detecting blog. We've handpicked the very best and most knowledgeable contributors to present regular metal detecting blogs on topics close to their heart. Plus we're asking you to join in and make it a conversation.

Our bloggers share their product knowledge, detecting experience, personal tips and tricks and anything else they want to discuss that might be of interest to the detecting community.

Now it's all about marketing.

I get that Minelab has to follow the marketing trend to stay competitive. But the problem is most influencers aren't experts on the product they are promoting. Its easy for a company to throw some free gear at someone on YouTube who has a large following and profit. But in the long run the customer base suffers from not receiving the hard won knowledge from the actual experts who rely on their detectors like Steve and JP.  And without that knowledge base I feel folks get frustrated trying to understand settings and the how and why of detecting and ultimately their detectors end up finding dust in the closet. Hopefully Minelab reposts those articles at some point.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel there is allot of technique involved in nugget hunting and I feel we are losing that tribal knowledge.

Aye having the technique to use a detector is only the beginning of the quest to find gold. After 45years of chasing it I`m still learning.
