  1. Hello folks,

It's been a long time since I've used my GPZ because I had to move away from the Redding area where I was using it regularly. It makes sense to sell it and use the money for a new computer and engineering software for my business. The machine has around 200 hours and works perfect. It still has the original skidplate, so that gives you an idea of the minimal wear and tear.

Can you please recommend a fair asking price so I can then put it in the classifieds with pictures?

    Thanks much.

Hi, I think it might have to do with your display settings. I think maybe your settings got changed either in an update or with a new monitor? etc hopefully this link might solve your issue. https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/maps/P9yASoldi68

I'm a new member. Steve this is a great site and I'm a big fan and admirer. I'm not too good at detecting but I learn a lot reading threads here that I hope to someday apply in the field. Thanks to all the other knowledgeable members here also that so freely share their experience and skills and thanks for having me.

    Thank you very much Alex.

That did get me back to normal. YES!

There had been an auto-update on 5/20.

  3. The other day I pulled up Google Earth as usual but now the navigation and zoom controls and the tool bar icons are very tiny. And now my placemark labels are larger than normal. I cannot figure out how to reset it back.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    The topic: And the query.

Is it a Zed?  Read the question.

Yeah the audio can cut out on the WM12 but thats just keeping it in your pocket or in LOS, Line Of Sight, dont know that the GPX has this capability unless someones adapted it... I'll put my hard hat on just incase someone wants to dump a load of bricks on me....

I was using the GPX scenario just to illustrate what the GPZ audio problem sounded like.

Try wiggling the headphone wire at the plug to see if you get any audio static or cuts. Ive had probably 10 pairs of Koss headphones go bad, due to that wire breaking. It usually starts out  as an intermittent audio cut

I know what you mean with those Koss headphones. But I use the Sun Ray Pro headphones.

yep sounds like you're not keeping your module in line of sight, or your headphone wires are frayed at the plug. I like Chris' idea with the extension cable!

I don't think it's the line of site issue because I've only had the problem 2 months. I haven't changed the way I wear it.

But it could be any of the other issues all have mentioned. Sounds like it'll be easy to figure out.

    Thanks for the advice all.

  7. For about 2 months I've been experiencing a short "cut-out" occasionally, as I'm detecting. The best way to describe it is the way my GPX 5000 would cut out in discrimination mode with the DD coil, it's just like that. It's quite annoying  because it disrupts my rhythm causing me to re-swing where it just hiccupped.

I just spoke to Minelab, they put me on hold then gave me Jerry's (Jerry's detectors) number and asked me to call him. That seemed odd. We talked about the problem for a while and decided the first thing to try is, connect the headphones directly to the detector to determine whether the module is the issue.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

  8. 2 days ago I was hunting in some very red iron mineralized soil giving off a lot of interference. Occasionally I tried the "difficult ground" setting but felt like I was missing targets. Later, back in "normal" I was hearing a medium/ soft target and switched back to "Difficult" but could not hear the target. Back in normal, I dug down until the target was real clear, again switched to difficult and was really surprised because I still couldn't hear it. It was a lead fragment.

  9. There is a product that we all swear by called Oral Ivy. You can usually get it at a health food store or online. Those of us who hunt in that nasty stuff start taking it in the spring and continue all through the fall. If you hunt year round in it, then take it year round. A couple of drops in your morning coffee or any juice will do it, it's practically tasteless. It builds up an immunity in your body so you don't get it, or at least it will minimal.

Now, if you already are infected, it is supposed to relieve the symptoms within a few days after you start taking it. Give it a try, you've really got nothing to lose and it's a lot cheaper than a doctor visit.

Boericke & Tafel - Oral Ivy, 1 oz liquid

    Digger Bob

This is the kind of thing I was hoping to hear about when I started this post.

Thanks a bunch... hope this works for me and others too.

  10. A few said use Dawn dish soap. I have heard this remedy as well. I have heard that it should be used without water until throughly cleaned. Luckily for me I have been able to avoid the stuff..... I didn't see it answered, did you find any gold among the poison oak?

I did find some small pieces one of which is a little quartz specie. But I did find the source of the gold I had been getting. It was up the draw a bit farther than I had been previously.

Thank you guys for the advice and expertise.

  11. I spent some more time detecting at Miners Tip Gulch. Several targets were in the midst of poison oak roots. I knew this was risky but the lure of gold was too strong and now I'm paying the price. My left forearm is looking like raw hamburger pattys.

Does anyone know of any good remedies?

Technu doesn't do anything for me.

  12. I was finally able to get back to "Miners Tip Gulch" (as I am calling it) today for just a few hours, before the rain sent me packing out of there.

Figured I'd share my finds with you fellow "Forum Niners" since some of you seemed interested in the original post.

Interestingly, all of the gold from both outings was found in sand and gravel "float". But 4 or so bullets were found in bedrock.
