  1. I got out to play with the EQ600 today useing the 11" coil and must say the learning curve is a bit steep compared to my old tracker IV (almost elementary). I'm watching a pile of youtube vids and also reading the Big Blue Equinox book by Andy Sabisch which is helping alot too. One of my struggles now is working up a modified coin setting that will clearly i.d. the VARIABLE trash signals with recognizable tones which seems to be quite limited on EQ600 vs EQ800 so if anyone can throw some ideas my way have at it.

  2. I am seriously looking at the Eq 600 I've found it for $649. at amazon and ebay but would rather spend my money at a "detector shop" vs a mega store. The other thing I'm concerned with is my budget started at $500. the Equinox 600 will easily go over $700. After tx which is really pushing the RED zone. On the plus side the equinox would slowly pay for itself every time I use it.

  3. I stand corrected $499 is the going price I was going by memory of which I seem to have very little of these days. I was talking to a local shop owner that has a really clean used 705 with 10x5 18.75hz coil $400 and will sell a new 7.5hz sml round coil for $125 cash and no tax but that may be a mute point based on what you folks are telling me. To this day I only have experience with an ace 250, HF9 and a BH tracker IV an the reviews online for the xt705 are very good so lack of of experience would be my reason for not considering other detectors. I really appreciate your input on this.

  4. Hi all. Im a new member here and my mind is still reeling from all the great information on this site.  I've been looking for a new detector mainly for parks, fields and an occasional beach. My budget was $500 so a BH Time Ranger Pro or fisher 19 +5" coil would get me there until I started looking at the ML Xterra 705 duel pack $800 a huge jump in caliber and budget. What are your thoughts and experiences on the Xterra?

  5. Im in western Wa and you are right the weather really SUCKS right now. I was really excited when I found all John H's analysis and reviews on the BHTR Pro but at the same time I knew I'd be able to "dig up some really good stuff" 😁 on other detectors from all the members here so the brakes are on for the moment.

    Thanks for all advice

  6. Yes the water proof thing is an obstacle for sure I was looking at some detectors able to go up to 10ft in water but not sure if Im that interested in deep water detecting. In one review of the BHTR Pro the 4" G BUG coil was used for detecting 038gn gold nugget so using it near or in small streams or rivers for gold could be interesting if you have other reccomendations for similar or better units let me know.

  7. Yes the bh tracker iv is basic but got it for $25 from offerup a few years back. I found a review here from Steve??? Grouping the F19, Gold bug,the TECHNETICS 2 and BH Time Ranger together all at 19hz with only price separating them +5yr warranty on BHTR. F19 $449 and Time Ranger Pro $399  the coils of all 4 models interchangeable. I must say the $400 price is very attractive.

  8.  I just recently regained my interest in metal detecting after 3yr break I did mostly schools and parks so got to thinking about a new detector upgrade from my HF9 and BH tracker IV to possibly a BH Time Ranger Pro? No decision made just yet as im still in search of reviews and info thats what led me to detectorprospector.com
