  1. 3 years ago i had a brand new reaper coil behind by seat in my truck,i stoped to give a guy a ride who had a motorcycle problem he got in slide the seat back crushed the ears right off.I ended up cutting the ears off flush to the coil then cut 2 90 degree pieces out of a heavy duty plastic electrical outlet box glued them down with Jb weld  put the coil bolt through to let it dry in place .A day later it was dry and i've been beating it through the ocean ever since

Too late!  Besides, nobody believes me anyway - HA!

I have never seen another Apex on the West Coast except mine. Fine by me.  It is an exceptional performer on our saltwater beaches.

Yeah i'm north of you i pretty much only use my Apex on saltwater beaches and when i first got it loved how easy the viper coil swings through the water but soon replaced it with a Reaper coil and pretty much gave up using my cz.The improvements i would like to see would be to go to fully proportional audio on an update so only people that wanted it would get it and maybe up the transmit and or receive power ,my thinking is i run sens almost always wide open only having to back off when the black sand gets heavier.

Watched the video again to catch some more details. Carbon fiber mid and lower shafts. The coil cable is inside the shafts. IP69 waterproof. 2.65 pounds. More flexible multi frequency choices as in the user has more autonomy over which frequencies are being used simultaneously......I think he was saying that. The wildest part for me is I think he said ground penetrating radar twice with some kind of multi colored graph like a Whites V3i with a different color for each metal. He specifically mentioned iron, gold, copper and silver would each have a different colored graph line........and then he said he didn't see how that would work in Russia since all of the jewelry there is heavily alloyed!!!......GPS satellite capable with SIM card.

$1200 version has a coil, wired headphones, wireless headphones (I think he said Koss) and a pinpointer (probably pairs wirelessly). The $870 version is just the detector and coil with no extras.

April 5th launch and April 17th goes on sale.

Don't shoot me, this is what the video maker said with some room for mistakes by the auto translator and my bad Russian language skills. Basically I can grunt and moan in Russian!

That is exactly how i read it i wonder if when he talks about gpr if he means some sort of imaging sizing sort of thing

They have not said anything to get excited about, just "new model." So what? New high end competition for Legend, Deus 2, and Manticore? That would get people excited. Another mid range detector? Not so much. Given the lack of information and the way people got hyped up over models like the Apex, only to be disappointed, I can fully understand a lack of excitement at this point. Especially with the hard core detector junkies that hang out on this website.

If your disappointed by the apex you got to try one on an ocean beach, they are really good, i've parked my cz and have about 3 years of ocean bashing without drowning it out

It will be interesting to see if they stick with the curved shaft.

Also, are Garrett detectors just assembled in America? Meaning, are most of the actual parts made overseas?

I saw a video a few years ago an Aussie guy made touring the factory and it showed them making coils ,bending tubing pretty much all parts being made,

  6. My guess is that will similar in performance and price to the 900 maybe a little more pricy but it's main advantage will be durability and Garretts customer support.I also am guessing that the parts on the Apex that are yellow will be blue partly because it looks cool ,i'll be buying one i like supporting great American manufacturing companies

  7. Funny you mention the Infinium during the crazy California storms last year i was working a beach with a group of guys i had my Apex there was a d2 ,nox  and a legend and we were all doing pretty good  in the fairly heavy black sand but i noticed nobody was working the top 6 feet of the beach up against a wall .I could see a quarter and nickel sitting on the surface and none of our detectors could hear them,it was just pure black sand it looked like it was spray painted black . I ran back to my truck grabbed my infinium with the double d coil and in a 6by 40 ft strip i got 3 and half gold rings maybe 20 nickels and something like 10 silver coins. The next day a guy brought a gpz and struggled,

  8. It's so good on the saltwater beaches that i have only used my cz 21 once since i got my Apex i use the reaper coil and put tyvek tape over the charging port for additional waterproofing, although you are not supposed to submerge them i have at least 20 times but the beaches i hunt in California you really don't need to go more than knee deep .The viper coil is much easier to swing in the water.I hunt in multi salt with sensitivity all the way up no discrimination.

  9. Quick question for you guys, do you think an Infinium or atx coil would work on an axiom?I remember reading about Steve putting an Infinium coil on an atx and think he said coils on a pi can often be interchanged without a performance problem but is the connection the same?
