  1. On my 800, bought two lower shafts, and slid heat shrink tubing over them, installed, wrapped cord made sure in advance everything was good. i.e. first one I didn't lay the coil flat. BEFORE putting the flame to it. And nope, you barely need to get to the almost too hot to touch to shrink it up nice

was a fast, clean way to easily swap out coils

was clean, tight, extra layer of protection on the cable...will likely do that with the manti as the new M8 arrived a few days ago. and I'm already trying to justify the large coil

Many Equinox users cranked up the sensitivity and noise cancelled. The goal was to try to force the machine to make the best choice.

Wish to biscuits I'd of thought of that- I had...easily...1200+ hours on my 800, and there is a 1900's school, condemned then renovated into a "community" center that my 800 would struggle on..between the crap wiring over this one corner and the massive back filled slag zones... I miss my 800, those were simply amazing...my fear is...to be honest...I'll just start getting into 'the zone' with the Manticore and those bastards will release the CTX4040 or whatever they'll name it!! 😆

  3. Saw whatever vid where he held down the button till it stabilized

.....welllllllll...... I was in a spot clouded with overhead wires, huge steel bleachers, overhead lighting...and all that certain underground conduit... My standard 20-22 sens was not settling down, it was having fits. So I cranked it up to 29, did the cancel thing, different number entirely than the previous attempts, turned it back DOWN to 20, and had joy. Totally settled it down for the duration

Add it to the bag of tricks if it helps

A dealer in the classified section has them in stock now.

And thank you. Me and an acquaintance BOTH snagged one

Much gratitude for the heads up

I asked if they were actually "in stock" all I heard yes, I got a few blah blah.... I literally interrupted him and said "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

Shout out to AZ's Robs Detectors

  5. Gotta hand it to the dude taking the time- that said found on a youtube link back to someones homepage. Safe link

Seriously it would appear, and forgive me for jumping to conclusions, but..I'm on the verge of being comfortable saying.......if you, and yes, I'm going for it..if you dig everything that crosses with any sort of constancy, you will dig trash, but you will also dig good things.. there. I said it

    frigging gold rings/beeps/vdi's  from 1 to 70...perfect

My opinion is the 800 is still right up there as the pinnacle of VLF's,
performance wise it's not been left behind by the Manticore.
For anyone that doesn't have a 900 or Manticore you're not missing all that much,
I would not think I'll find much more using my Manticore that I'd miss with my Nox 800.

**Extreme circumstances like perhaps heavy iron or something maybe, but under most conditions very little difference.

holy crap, thank God I'm not the only one!!!  my only disagrance would possibly be **

maybe? but... the couple of times I found silver surrounded by iron with my small coil and 800 made me question my rage to buy the Manticore. manti is great, but its no CTX (also sold thinking I'd never use it again after buying manti)

I hunted for six hours today with my Mcore, I don't think anyone is going to pay more than the current price. I am trying so hard to find the fun part of hunting with it, the only thing that makes me smile is the how compact it is when I take it somewhere.

I did dig a rosi today, but I had no idea I was digging a dime or silver, ID was from the 60s to low 80s.  I was looking for a wheaty.

I was so excited when (fourth on the waiting list back when they came out) I thought there was NO way I could get one-dude called, said give me your card number now, or I call #5 on the list... shipped 1500, was thrilled, ran it a few times in the yard, sold my 800 and coils, and the CTX and coils.... don't miss the CTX too heavy, but the 800 paid for itself. Got about 30+ hours vs 1200+ in the 800... I'm waiting for that 'aha' moment I had with all the detectors before, you know when you have that time out where you literally ID with 80% accuracy everything you dig.
I'm not complaining, just hoping another update, or reasonably priced competitive coils, otherwise may sell it and go backwards ffs to the 800 and its familiarity.... we go with a dude who runs an old Whites.... he does ok, every time we go... with clearly an old, heavy, crap battery,  outdated POS, right? 😄

...I'd like to move the pod (and then the armcuff) back a few inches. This will stop the unit from being ever so slightly nose heavy.

Wont moving the coil further away increases the felt weight? Basic Lever rules I thought. Moving coil (weight) closer to wrist increases felt weight, or am I missing something?

compared to my (sold) CTX, this thing has helium balloons attached to it

edit: nevermind, see it got addressed

  9. My .02
Only time a manufacture "alerts" the public they're going to increase price is to stimulate current lagging sales. Otherwise, why threaten increased profits, or decreased costs to make the baseline costs after the new price is set?

I'm guessing its more likely the threat of an increase aligns with the new higher price of whatever model they plan on replacing the CTX3030 with... then, the jacked up price makes the new one reasonable.

  10. Yup, I fell for the influencer type/hype- had 1500 hours (no, really) on my 800... had to get a CTX cause, you know...then... the manticore came out, everything said it was as good as the CTX, and as light as the 800

never. should. have. sold. the. 800........ especially when a dude I go with runs this 15 year old heavy, uses battery packs Whites.....and routinely kicks our ass... now to either learn the manti, or buy one of those 800's and 3 coils for 600 bucks everyone dumped to rationalize the 1500 mantiwhore 😁
