I wanna chime in and say I spent some time traveling across China for a work related effort, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. So many beautiful and fascinating landscapes. We visited like 28 sites of either geological or cultural significance while there, and ate many strange things boiled in spicy sauce - which was not my favorite part but Id definitely go back.Â
While there I couldn't help but think what kind of things could be found with a metal detector, so many people and so much history, just everywhere.  Like outdoor shopping malls built around thousand year old temples. But also... the littering and trash is on another level. it seemed like no one cared. just tossing trash wherever. it was alarming, especially as a detectorist. lol.Â
When I got back I spent some time on youtube watching videos of folks finding some interesting things out in what I assume were rural areas. Like old helmets and other artifacts , as well as some large coins. pretty neat.
The police presence was very imposing in the cities though. Id want to be darn sure I could hunt that city park before I ever started and have some kind of printed proof.  ..we drew a lot of attention as it was.Â
But this is interesting and I look forward to reading more about it. There is a person from possibly somewhere in or near Mongolia in one of the fb deus groups that posts occasionally a handful of coins. pretty neat stuff.Â

Hey All,Â
Midwesterner transplant roaming up and down the West Coast, been living in NW Oregon the last few years and digging it every chance I get.Â
Been an XP user for about about 8 years now with the Deus and Deus2 but impulsively picked up a Manticore last week and have been focused on learning all its beeps and bonks.Â
Did some prospecting while living in California. Really enjoyed it and looking to get back into it around Oregon and Washington.Â
Still enjoy camping and fly fishing too, but detecting gets most of my attention now.
Â
For your enjoyment, heres a fake picture of me in the future, using the latest in detecting technologies at my local beach.Â

You definitely said something there for the Deus 2. I didn't think the minimal weight difference would be that noticeable, but after a few hours I find myself switching arms on the minelab. lol
But thanks, yes, lets pretend in this future technology, they became so overloaded with features the only option was to make them self mobile. Check out the unit in my profile pic. 😉
... and before anyone begins to think I'm trying to troll serious on the future thing, lemme state that I was messing with one of those AI art engines and prompted it for various metal detecting imagery. few of which made any sense by modern standards. lol.
