My name is Dave and i'm new to this site, but not new to detecting. I'm also into ham radio, and i play tetris for a living. Ive owned many detectors ove the years starting with a whites 5000 D, now ive got a legend, an m6 and a manticore.

Just got my Manticore a week ago, due to time constraints i haven't had a chance to really get out yet besides in my driveway on a few surface targets. I noticed that my coil will pick up on the outside edges, but not down the center. Is this normal on the manti? This may just be me not knowing how coils really work. If anyone would like to duplicate what i did just remove coil from shaft, wave a coin all around the coil and see if yours does the same thing. Would ease my mind just a bit because i dont know if i have a defective coil or thats just the way it works thanks in advance
