  1. 6 tone

Tone break 1 is 1 to 25, volume is 5(,if you want to hear rejected tones) and frequency is 1

Tone break 2 is 26-28, volume is 10, frequency is 20

Tone break 3 is 29-31, volume is 5, frequency is 1

Tone break 4 is 32-34 (this will catch beaver tails)  volume is 10 frequency is 20

Tone break 5 is 35-49( or whatever high vdi you want to start on, can change 49), volume is 5, frequency 1

Tone break 6 is 50-60, volume 10, frequency is 25 or 30 depending how high you want them to ring

And I wish there was a seventh tone because I'd eliminate 60 as well 60 is usually a false, but we will have to include it, I guess you could notch it, but I don't like notching stuff

And this is my pulltabs and high tones program, I wrote it to do the pull tab challenge where you dig 50 pulltab signals and see if you get anything neat, and I included high tones because I just couldn't skip them, but it got me a lot of bottle caps too

  2. Got a field with a lot of small iron, mostly nails and bottlecaps

Going to try some settings I saw on the old XP ambassador before merril I forget his name

He ran it in gold field mode, with high IAR, so I'm going to try that and see how it works, I never used goldfield mode before

If it works good I'm going to try it at a second park, that has lots of big iron under the grass, I don't even know how to explain it it's just like large iron chunks, I went there last year once, and every hole led to big iron so I gave up after a few

  3. Sometimes when I just want to discriminate foil out, instead of notching I will just raise my tone breaks to 15 or 20 so the foil comes out as an iron tone, so I still know it's there, sometimes notching can give you clipped tones on good targets if there's foil in the way, that's my tip of the day, I've had the legend 6 months give or take a few

  4. I looked on eBay but I didn't see any there, I assume somebody must have one they are not using somewhere in the world, it was a very popular pinpointer and not very many still functioning today, there has to be someone with a broken TRX that has a holster sitting in their closet

I would have made this post in the classifieds forum but I'm not actually looking to buy one today, I'm just putting feelers out for when I will want to buy one in the future, if I do, right now I keep my pointer in my finds bag instead of in a holster, but this spring I might want to change things up

  5. April 2023 I got a simplex plus, 2 months later I got a legend because I wanted something more advanced

So less than one year for me, but I first seen detectors on TV I guess as a kid in the 90s and I was interested in it, the guy on the beach with a detector and big headphones

I had cheap crappy detector in like 2011ish but all I found with it was iron, I only searched my property and the trail out back my house, also the beach once but all I found on the beach was a couple quarters in the same hole, so that never caught on, I don't even know what brand it was, I don't even think it was a bounty hunter, think it was  lousier than that, I never thought of searching parks, glad I didn't because I didn't know to fill holes back then or what a plug was

I think that you will really like your deus1 gopher. You might want too stick with the factory programs for awhile until you get the hang of it.I would recommend using the fast program in the sites with a lot of nails but don't be afraid to experiment with the reactivity and sensitivity settings. The lower reactivity that you can get by with the better as far as depth is concerned and change it often raise it up in the really thick iron and lower it accordingly in the cleaner ground thats important. The same goes for the sensitivity {gain} the higher that you can run it the better but you won't be doing yourself any favors by running it way high in the heavy iron.just like the reactivity raise and lower and change it often according to the conditions.I would also recommend that you insert Calabash Diggers Relic Program into one of your slots. It's based off of the fast program with pitch tones and really helped me a lot when I got my d1 and I still use his program on occasion with a couple of tweaks. Also did you happen to get the HF elliptical or white round coil with your unit? They are both very useful.Best of luck with your deus and at some point in the future you will probably want to get yourself a d2.

    Doc

Thanks, I'll check out calabashs relic program, I was thinking of just starting with basic the first day, maybe I'll play with fast as well, paystreak superfreak on YouTube said he would make me a video explaining negative discrimination when I said I don't understand it, hopefully he gets that out sometime

I think a tiny bit of snow fell last night, hoping it melts over today and tomorrow, we have temps over 5°c today though til Friday it gets cold again, although there's rain a lot of those days

  7. Anyone notice the crazy difference in depth (on air tests) between the pitch and pulse modes

The pitch modes has a lot further range, where as the pulse mode I need to almost be touching the pointer

I just got a mi6 to use with my deus, I have only used the mi4 before, I just saw a video released by Gary in the last 24 hours about the mi6, he mentions settings you can only access with a deus, like research mode, but he didn't elaborate

What is research mode?? And are any other deus only settings really useful?

  8. The deus and the grave digger sheath arrived, The sheath is a bit small, I spent like 30 minutes shoving my digger in and out to wear it in a bit

We have snow right now, but warm temps over the next 4 days, I expect the snow to melt some time on the 25th, I won't be able to get out to a park to test my deus, but I'll be able to test it out back, there used to be a house back there that was demolished so there's lots of scrappity scrap, lots of iron but am able to pick out the odd non-ferrous target, I'm really hoping for some coins, but all I have found back there was a 40s penny and a 60s penny, and have detected it at least a dozen times, I have pulled about 3 pounds of lead so far from back there

  9. Well I did it anyways people, ive been watching deus 1 videos since I made this thread, now I'm hyped to get it, I found a coupon code to get $95 off, so I pulled the trigger

Also grave digger tools had a flash sale a few days ago, it was 25% off I got a leather sheath for my garett edge diggerScreenshot_20231207_145227_Fennec.thumb.jpg.9ca1776f9ac6217a9715a8ca4be1bfc4.jpg

  10. In 2023 I found a possible 10kt gold chain 2.75 grams and a for sure 18kt gold ring 4.72g

I bought a display case for my rings and I just have the gold ring sitting in there in my living room

Should I have it squirreled away in a safe somewhere or something? Instead of just having it sit in my living room

    I'm not sure

  11. Anyone think its worth getting an xp deus in the new year??

Or is the technology too dated?

I'm very interested in the xp deus with the high frequency elliptical coil

I find here in canada the 40khz on the legend is great for our steel core coins as well as nickel coins, so I'm curious if 74khz on the deus will do better

I'm not interested in the ORX because its a three tone machine, and I see a video of it in high EMI environments giving off mid tones to the point you could swing right over gold and not notice the tone

In canada I see the deus one, with x35 coil, remote, and headphones(lite) for $995

Or the deus lite by itself for $675

The the first deal sounds way better to me, I could get it after christmas and save up for the HF coil by the time the snow melts

If only the deus 2 had either a HF coil or even just a small elliptical coil I probably wouldnt consider the deus one at all

  12. Actually to tell the truth, I like his mudlarking videos in newyork better than his metal detecting videos, he has a real unique opportunity to have a place like that to mudlark, theres nothing like that by me, so I find it fascinating

I also am a sucker for his 'unlock' segments, I find them trippy and is probably literally the main reason I watch his channel, I want to see sushi unlocked and hagendaz unlocked trippiness every video

I was really surprised his last official xp video he showed us how to pinpoint targets, like he just learned that, where as I seen other youtubers do it plenty of times, I asked him if he used the pinpoint button before if he just learned how to do it without the feature, bit he didnt answer me

I am also a bit disappointed we probably won't see him toying with his nexus or whatever its called, he did a video on it talking about analog machines, I can't afford a 5000 dollar nexus machine so I was hoping to see him do some videos on it in the future, he made me consider getting a analog machine, I seen some good videos on the fisher cz21 in YouTube

  13. Did have fun, my biggest problem was staying out long, I see other some other people spend like 4 hours or more digging, but I would get bored after about 2 hours, but I did get out a good amount of times a week to make up for it

Next year I hope to stay out longer per session, get some more exercise in as I'm  a pretty sedentary person

The other thing is if I found something really good, I would want to go home, I see other people say it makes them want to stay out longer, but it does the opposite for me, i figure its the best thing I'm going to find today and want to go home with the logic at least I found this one thing today

  14. I'm very interested in one day getting an anolog machine, I just started detecting in april 2023 with the simplex then a month or two later got a legend

Ive seen a youtuber using the fisher cz21 at the beach and it piqued my interest since my dealer has one in stock

I asked the youtuber about it and he said it was his favorite salt watera machine, even today

I am not near salt water but I struggle with the legend at the fresh water beach even, so I wonders if I would do better with the fisher

What I'm not into is the price point, its $2000 CAD for the cz21 at my dealers shop

I dont know if I can justify dropping 2k on a machine that old, in fact I'm saving up $1600 to get a deus one with 2 coils, that I can justify

But if Santa brought me a fisher cz21 I would totally use it a lot

Im a little disappointed this thread said it sucks in iron, I didnt previously know that

And I wonder how it would do in our canadian steel core change here, a low tone no doubt, I wonder about our nickel.change, high tone maybe
