6 tone Tone break 1 is 1 to 25, volume is 5(,if you want to hear rejected tones) and frequency is 1 Tone break 2 is 26-28, volume is 10, frequency is 20 Tone break 3 is 29-31, volume is 5, frequency is 1 Tone break 4 is 32-34 (this will catch beaver tails) volume is 10 frequency is 20 Tone break 5 is 35-49( or whatever high vdi you want to start on, can change 49), volume is 5, frequency 1 Tone break 6 is 50-60, volume 10, frequency is 25 or 30 depending how high you want them to ring And I wish there was a seventh tone because I'd eliminate 60 as well 60 is usually a false, but we will have to include it, I guess you could notch it, but I don't like notching stuff And this is my pulltabs and high tones program, I wrote it to do the pull tab challenge where you dig 50 pulltab signals and see if you get anything neat, and I included high tones because I just couldn't skip them, but it got me a lot of bottle caps too

What's the difference between discrimination and notching, like is there a difference under the hood? Does discrimination give you clipped tones like notching can?? I just got a deus 1 machine so I'm curious, I am coming from nokta machines which only have notching

Got a field with a lot of small iron, mostly nails and bottlecaps Going to try some settings I saw on the old XP ambassador before merril I forget his name He ran it in gold field mode, with high IAR, so I'm going to try that and see how it works, I never used goldfield mode before If it works good I'm going to try it at a second park, that has lots of big iron under the grass, I don't even know how to explain it it's just like large iron chunks, I went there last year once, and every hole led to big iron so I gave up after a few

First time out with the XP deus 1, 9 inch x35 coil, found 2 sterling silver rings with CZ and a tungsten carbide ring with a very very small diamond I'm saving up for the high frequency coil I heard it's much better, I was getting EMI with the x35 coil Hope this is a sign of things to come with this detector https://youtu.be/Lbg1r4fAJUw?si=7JGqLBJ0kACY-1up

First Day Out With The Legend
gopher replied to JohnnyDigs's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Sometimes when I just want to discriminate foil out, instead of notching I will just raise my tone breaks to 15 or 20 so the foil comes out as an iron tone, so I still know it's there, sometimes notching can give you clipped tones on good targets if there's foil in the way, that's my tip of the day, I've had the legend 6 months give or take a few -
Made a YouTube video on what Canadian pennies ring up as, going to add a new video every week, nickels is next week

I looked on eBay but I didn't see any there, I assume somebody must have one they are not using somewhere in the world, it was a very popular pinpointer and not very many still functioning today, there has to be someone with a broken TRX that has a holster sitting in their closet I would have made this post in the classifieds forum but I'm not actually looking to buy one today, I'm just putting feelers out for when I will want to buy one in the future, if I do, right now I keep my pointer in my finds bag instead of in a holster, but this spring I might want to change things up

April 2023 I got a simplex plus, 2 months later I got a legend because I wanted something more advanced So less than one year for me, but I first seen detectors on TV I guess as a kid in the 90s and I was interested in it, the guy on the beach with a detector and big headphones I had cheap crappy detector in like 2011ish but all I found with it was iron, I only searched my property and the trail out back my house, also the beach once but all I found on the beach was a couple quarters in the same hole, so that never caught on, I don't even know what brand it was, I don't even think it was a bounty hunter, think it was lousier than that, I never thought of searching parks, glad I didn't because I didn't know to fill holes back then or what a plug was

Thanks, I'll check out calabashs relic program, I was thinking of just starting with basic the first day, maybe I'll play with fast as well, paystreak superfreak on YouTube said he would make me a video explaining negative discrimination when I said I don't understand it, hopefully he gets that out sometime I think a tiny bit of snow fell last night, hoping it melts over today and tomorrow, we have temps over 5°c today though til Friday it gets cold again, although there's rain a lot of those days

I just downloaded this app, going to subscribe to it in the spring, hopefully I can figure it out it looks like a bit confusing

Anyone notice the crazy difference in depth (on air tests) between the pitch and pulse modes The pitch modes has a lot further range, where as the pulse mode I need to almost be touching the pointer I just got a mi6 to use with my deus, I have only used the mi4 before, I just saw a video released by Gary in the last 24 hours about the mi6, he mentions settings you can only access with a deus, like research mode, but he didn't elaborate What is research mode?? And are any other deus only settings really useful?

The deus and the grave digger sheath arrived, The sheath is a bit small, I spent like 30 minutes shoving my digger in and out to wear it in a bit We have snow right now, but warm temps over the next 4 days, I expect the snow to melt some time on the 25th, I won't be able to get out to a park to test my deus, but I'll be able to test it out back, there used to be a house back there that was demolished so there's lots of scrappity scrap, lots of iron but am able to pick out the odd non-ferrous target, I'm really hoping for some coins, but all I have found back there was a 40s penny and a 60s penny, and have detected it at least a dozen times, I have pulled about 3 pounds of lead so far from back there
