  1. Wow thats called pure genius. I dont know what to do one part of me says wait until atleast october to buy a metal detector to test out on those beaches other is desperate to try something new and find a solution. I think the atx is a solid beach machine will i be able to swing that in the surf for extended periods , fighting winds and tides maybe shoulder strap🤔 i did not find many vids of beach detectors using the atx. Its in my top 1 slot for picks but the more i read the more i look for alternatives to test that are few in # and in used state.
  2. Good day Yes lots of falsing with the seahunter here in the concentrated volcanic patches. Just got around to reading about the new nokta pulse machine thats coming out on the forum sounds interesting. Pretty much gave up on a beach huntertdi since there will be nobody to call when its damaged. The detector Mr steve recommended the infinium so far has grabbed my imagination these older machines do work better at the beaches here and also im still able to change coils quick and send it off to repair. One thing i have noticed for beach machines coils is that in like 2 -3 years the heat salt water i dont excatly know but they loose depth. So im searching for a infinium found a few that look ok and negotiating but its always models that are in bad shape that still have stock coil at high prices. will the ground tracking do the trick who knows! might be good idea to ask forum if anybody wants to sell theirs.
  3. Interesting ! I always believed minelab would be the first to solve the black sand issue since they say all their research team is in australia and there are lots of harsh mineralized areas and islands near for them to test. Many things we dont understand About earth as a detectorist we study history and topography but now that you mention forming of the earth and its crust ect nerd talk my mind clicked. Here we have many plates pushing rubbing thats how the strip conected north and south not a geologist but im sure that has something to do with the pacific beaches that sit within the nazca plate and carribean plate being undetectable on pacific side. I thank all the wonderfull people here for the great insight and experience. Maybe a machine will work or not i will give the garret atx or infinium a try. One detector that rules all is what we want will we ever get it. Thanks gents!!
  4. Good day Thats a 20+year machine i know does not make a difference if it works right. So can u get replacement parts from garret for it and how expensive are repairs and its durability. ATX seems heavy but looks like it will do the job, I use the hip mount while land detecting on the excal and have had 2 already and cables always have some issues the cable placement and thickness on the fisher i dont like very much. Rons detectors said the gpx 5000 works but i know a jungle, creek gold prospector that sometimes tries it out at these beaches and performance is ok on certain areas but not in the black wicked patches. Im waiting for minelab to make a new beach machine but it prob wont be a pulse. I will search for a tdi or infinium and if that fails will try the atx thats best plan i can come up with thanks.
  5. good day Yes that is my thought also but i have never owned a nice pi detector i have been lazy hitting all the easy beaches and now i have to get new gear to be able to detect this black magnetic sand. ATX, or fisher aq are the 2 that i see the best feedback from.
  6. Well u have atlantic and pacific oceans lots of shipwrecks and treasures lurking in the jungle . Issue is that strip of the country full of that tar looking black sand that glitters magically during full moon. I dont want to spend 3k on a machine and if i do will it work🤔 equinox 6 and 8 will die on the spot, the manticore and even the deus 2 will fall very ill in these beaches . The Tarsacci ive always seen in kelly store but i dont know anybody who owns it so i cannot say. Advanced Pi is my only option that or aquamans echo location.
  7. Thanks ! Im sure there are people here who have dealt with similar conditions. This black sand patch covers about 200km of beaches and very nice resorts who for many years have been undetectable by anybody i know of so they must be loaded . Some people have tried using fisher cz, deus 2, gpz 5000 ,sand shark , many have the ctx but no use . sea hunter works in some patches of sand but like 10% of what i would like to search. Detecting in the morning before sand gets hot does help minelab machines do better but not ideal. I read on alot of post that pi machines that have pulse delay and gb doing better and i just have a flicker of hope . Should of bought a White's TDI BeachHunter when i had the chance just to try it out that would of given me me a rough idea if better pi detector will punch through that sand and remain stable even at low depth settings.
  8. Good day to everybody Here goes nothing been reading this forum for years yet i never sought advice until now never 2 old right. I have been reading through most of the black sand post but still undecided what to do.I mainly do underwater searching and some land also . To cut the story short im looking for a machine that will work in the most terrible black sands and hot rocks. for salt I use an excal 2, sov gt, or garret m2 none work or sometimes maybe 2 inches. Out of the water burning hot sand and black mineralized beaches just ruin my day nothing works not even pulse pinpointers machines go crazy. I dont know if sand is as bad as in hawaii but this whole place came out of the ocean by volcanic activity. So i was reading about 2 detectors one the atx working well on black sand and the other fisher impulse detector. On one hand i think the atx is old but seems to do well in this medium the coils are expensive and id imagine repairs also. And then we have the fisher impulse that looks flimsy with the thin cables but also has good feedback and is a newer machine and lighter. I had a third option but did not find any used dual tdi just to test and see if it will function and who will repair. will upload pics of sand for ref all my pacific coast is loaded wit black sand and volcanic rocks, atlantic side is a breeze location panama. I am open to any suggestions!
