  1. If aftermarket coils would void warranty we probably wouldn't use them on our GPX's so I doubt its an issue.Ismael was experimenting with an adapter plug for our standard mono coils but I suspect that the new coils for the SDC need to be specifically matched inductance wise for the 2300 hence the prototype. If I see Paul around I'll ask him about the video.

  2. Hi Rege

This is a machine never to be underestimated. Its not so much the depth in comparison but the ability to fine certain types of gold at good depth where other machine fail miserably. We have found it particularly good on specimen vein and leaf gold mainly where there is no obvious solid sections in the gold.

It is also proven on small gold at depth or gold too small for the bigger PI's.

Depth on most good solid nuggets of the 1-2gram is limited around 8-10" from our experience but we have picked up many small specimens at 6-8".It will still go 1-2ft on large iron type targets but obviously not designed with this in mind.I guess it forms part of a tool kit in conjunction with the bigger Pi's.

  3. Hi Montammie

I have experienced many instances of harassment over the years whilst beach detecting but also many great times.I've had young thugs throwing beer bottles at me,Someone called the police on me one night and told them I was swinging a shotgun.I had a guy run up and grab the detector shaft and start swinging it wildly in front of his mates. But the many nice people far outweighed any issues. Most people showed interest in the hobby or when explained understood the pastime.

Since moving to the goldfields over 7 years its been sweet sailing as there are many like minded people to meet.

  4. Hi Andyy

For some reason I had never really taken an interest in the quartz reefs and mines until finding some nice gold last year in a few locations.I can now see how the gold changes from Elluvial, colluvial and Alluvial as it moves away from the source. My setup changes depending on the type of ground I'm looking in.For example I will switch to fine gold with higher Rx and sometimes smaller coils in and around the bouldery quartz specimen areas. In loose quartz gravels with a cement base I use fine gold with a larger coil for depth with higher gains as there is less mineralization and then in the red clays Hi mineral with Alluvial gold further down I switch to Enhance with lower gain and Stab for solid pieces slug type gold. When the Red clay gets moisture its very hard penetrate so better to wait for it to dry and detect higher up on those days.
