Sounds like an excellent coil.At the moment we are using 2 x 14" elites and the 14"x9"Evo.These are our favourites of the range of flat wounds. We also had the 11"Eite.Durability wise I would go for the 14"x9"Evo,this coil is proving to be very robust and finding gold regularly. We did have to buy a heavy duty skid plate for it though as they wear quicky unlike the Elites.

The only true competition for any Minelab gold detector is some other Minelab gold detector
I think you summed it up nicely Steve. The SDC is one of Minelabs best ever releases particularly in the golden triangle here where it handles difficult ground so well. Its affordable for the weekend detectorist and doesn't make them feel left behind in the technology.

Hi deutran, Welcome. Nice to see you here & that is a lovely sassy lump of the good stuff. Awesome find....no matter when you found it. Yer...cant wait for some cooler weather either. I dont know how you buggers detect out in that 40c + days. Beyond me.
Good luck out there
JW
Hi JW
We can only detect very early mornings or overcast days. The pictured nugget was 8.5oz and in a patch of 3 which have just over 13oz of gold in them.It was a few years back and haven't been able to crack the oz mark since then.Plenty of deep holes but the wrong colour

Hi Steve
Good to see your flight across the ditch was nice and smooth. Looking fwd to your posts. Nice lump on hand.
Yes there was good gold to be found years ago, can't seem to match finds like this anymore.Anyway the cooler weathers coming and we'll do our best this year.

Hi Flakmagnet
One thing with the sovereigns is a lack of sensitivity to gold.My favourite from the PI's was the 2100 on the beach with an older 16DD white fiberglass nugget finder that was quite light with great depth. The standard 11DD also found me quite a bit of gold.

Hi Steve,
Do you see any notable difference between the Elite and the EVo coils?
And nice lump of gold!
Hi IDdesertman
Both coils are finding small deep nuggets very well, the larger Elite is quieter to use in noisy ground and I can use slightly higher Rx and Stab settings. The Evo is a fair bit lighter, the skid plates are very thin so we bought a heavy duty one.The Evo can find the tiniest gold I've found 3 less than 0.05g.
Hi GoldEn
Nice to catch up,looks like you,ve mastered that SDC.An enjoyable weekend for us all.

Good day to all. Many people would know me from another Aussie forum. The name Deutran is colour blindness to Green. My name is Steve and my wife is Carol. We have been detecting in the golden triangle for quite a few years currently using 2x Gpx5000's with 2x 14"Elites and a NFevo 14"x9".We live in the west of the triangle and regularly detect Wedderburn,Inglewood,Kingower,Stuart mill and surrounding areas.
Hope to gain further knowledge from this forum and contribute anything I learn or know that may help.

Talking about Cancel I detected with a fella a few years back who always used cancel with a 14x9NF mono.We tried in vein to explain but he was adamant his 5000 ran so quiet in this mode.He did eventually walk on a very shallow patch of about 3 or 4 pieces of a couple of grams each.
