Great looking location, great looking gold!
Thanks for the update JR can't wait fore the next installment.

Mop is a inherited nickname from my brother (had this blond afro going on when younger), I was called little Mop when younger now Mop as an adult. My wife was called Misses Mop for a few years as well.
When I go back home my 3 boys are still called little Mop, even though they are bigger than me, from a few locals.

Not looking to start a fight here, just sharing info. I don't care what coils everyone wants to run.
I did try to get the thread off on the right track Steve, just thought it was a pertinent piece of info with all the discussion going on. Thanks for cleaning it up.

Im hearing you. My family thinks ive gone mad. Especially after each trip where i dont find gold and say im selling my gear. But a day later im on the forums and doing more research frothing at the mouth ready for the next trip.
Being new to the hobby I was fortunate to pick the brain of a 30 year prospector, right of the bat he said he sometimes goes months without any gold, sure he could go to known spots and get some, but he is always looking for new ground.
It sort of calibrated my head a bit not to get discouraged after all those kms walking on the hunt and every so often it pays off with a new patch.

A Minelab dealer down Geelong way put up the below post about an Aussie company starting to make GPZ coils.
Interesting timing, wonder if the Russian guys have forced Minelabs hand to allow a local 3rd party to make coils.
Here is the link to the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/luckystrikegold/

Brand new GPZ coil coming soon! ?
There is a rumour in the wind that an Australian company will soon be making GPZ 7000 coils.
At present there are only Russian made after market coils being made, so hold off and bag yourself a genuine Aussie made one. They will be cheaper than the Russian coils and, as always, very well made.

Ahh damn, I was sure you would get onto some. Good luck tomorrow, unfortunately I have commitments so all the nuggets are yours.
Hope the Blues get over the line, Port were crap today.

Interesting read, I am sure members more versed in Geology may have some interesting thoughts on this topic.

Met up with Mitchel, Northeast & another forum member (sorry, didn't get your profile name not to mention I am terrible with names anyway) and we went out to a spot I have done okay in the past. The area was a mix of surfacing, some reef workings and slopes down into gully's so a mix of very shallow to deeper ground.
I could only stay for a few hours but found one in the area, down about a foot, so gold is still there, hopefully the others got onto some nuggets & will post them up.

I will see how I go, will be heading out around 8.30 - 9am. I will head west of the airport & see if I run into anyone.

Its been all over the local tv here in the Golden Triangle, it was found just out of Dunolly on the old lead, also called the German diggings, that were extensively worked during the rush years.

Cane toads are nothing. Probably the only thing that freaks me a little while out in the bush is walking into a golden orb weavers web. They're not a little spider and their web is fairly strong so you tend to spend the next 10 minutes looking to make sure the spiders not in your hair or on your shirt. Although I do think they are relatively harmless. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_silk_orb-weaver
The big inch ants are the other thing to watch out for. The suckers have big nippers that they use to hold on while they sting you with their tail. And they really hurt! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrmecia_forficata
Those ants are nasty, they seem to coordinate the attack as well.
Couple of weeks ago I got stung by them, 1 on my leg & 2 under my shirt, but it all happened at the same time. Very nasty, they were painful but the itchiness lasted a good 3 weeks.

Well, I nearly always have sunglasses but that won't help against the falling branches of the eucalyptus trees. It is one of the dirtiest, most dangerous trees to have in a yard and there are millions of them in their forests!
What time of year do their branches fall? Any time the wind blows or just anytime?
They seem most likely to randomly drop limbs when it is stinking hot & calm. Obviously in strong winds & storms they come down, but those hot calm days I have been out bush and heard them crashing down.
You would be bloody unlucky to get hit with one, but you never know.

Never been to that area but most state parks cover a vast area, hopefully a local might pipe up with some info.

I've been reading a bit about the Nugget Finder 12"x8" Evolution coil, It appears to bring the GPX almost in line with the SDC 2300 on small gold finding ability, if this is true it's a coil I would really like to own.
Seen a lot of discussion on the 9 inch Elite on the GPX series outperforming the SDC at depth, guys that own both, and love both, have seen the 9 inch be just as sensitive but at greater depth.

Just in case some of you have no idea what the Melbourne Cup is all about.....it is a horse race that grinds NZ & Aussie to a halt for a day. Doesn't bother me as I have no interest in horse racing. So Rockett....I reckon you did the right thing & it probably paid off a lot more for you than placing a bet on the horses. Good for you mate. Great little score for you. Congrats.?
Good luck out there
JW
Yep I was there, between getting drenched, donating all my cash to the bookies it was a great day. You don't have to be into racing to still have a big day at the cup, Back to prospecting to recoup some of the losses ?

Bloody hell that's some hard ground, shame you ran out of film I would have loved to have seen the results. Thanks Jr for bringing us all this footage, loving it.

The nice thing about Newfoundland is the old relics. The closer you get to the East coast of Canada, the more older stuff there is.
You said exchange so that means you have a Newfie headed your way. I said the French are funny but Newfies are downright hilarious. Better get a translator. ?
Haha yeah I have seen some vids of Newfies talking it is funny. Sadly no we are not getting a student ourselves, one way exchange, not sure who gets the better end of that deal ?

We as a race are really not very nice, to set & leave 110 million mines, to the point they hinder economical development and impact the less privileged is a disgrace.
