I'm probably not the right user for this kind of research, but having often been involved in testing other similar equipment, I've always wondered how one could tackle such an excavation without killing oneself.

I mean without an excavator or a team of people shoveling it's almost meaningless to trace signals and wait hours before understanding what it is.

Once a guy in the backyard had dug sinkholes with only a shovel and all that came up were oil drums.

His wife's face told the whole story😂

That would be funny. We dug several caches years ago using the Garrett TreasureHound coil. We didn’t dig any deeper than 3 feet because it would have been hard to bury them deeper. IMG_0363.thumb.jpeg.3b3a55d3451138b765501d2105f7770f.jpeg

Wayne, who's the 3rd Distributor as I only know of Teri at Outdoor and Robert at American. I don't count KellycO as they sell direct to customers and Teri/Robert do not.

Yes I agree the release of 700/900 will cut into Manticore sales.

Glad you ordered a good amount as you'll be able to make a few bucks unless most your sales are military.  Each new detector my Pre Order list gets more and more Military.  As a Veteran myself I don't mind as they earned it. In the long run I come out ok. Hopefully you do as well.

Gerry, Teri and RoBert are the only dealer distributors other than Minelab direct and KellyCo that I know of. I was eluding to KellyCo getting some too. Of Course Minelab Direct also sells to the big box retailers like Cabelas. Glad you got some early ones, we are still waiting.
We do a lot of military also. Like you probably experience, some have already used their annual discount and we still work with them in honor of their service.

Good to see you enjoying your Manticore at the beach!

Woohooo!!!  Another ship arrives 12/10, Saturday with Minelab equipment.  This one only had about 1/3 the weight of Minelab items the last ship carried.  Also this shipment is described as, "METAL DETECTION EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES"  not Metal Detectors and the shipment is headed for Oakland, CA.

Still, what was in Friday's detector shipment?  Manticores or ?????

Let’s hope it’s Manticores. The video on the new Nox versions said those products were on their way to Minelab America, so might even be a mixed shipment.

700 pre-orders for the USA distributor doesn't seem much, when I know there are 26 at just one of the two dealers in NZ.

I've lost hope of my Manticore before Christmas, first the dealer was all sure they'd have some by yesterday so asked everyone waiting to pay, I paid instantly, now they're saying they have no idea when Minelab will ship some.  So typical of Minelab, they do a fantastic job of disappointing customers, it's lucky generally their products are worth the wait, hassle and grief of warranty returns.  Why do all these flashy release videos and big "events" for a product they can't even supply.  Maybe wait until they can supply product before going all out on marketing.

Sending a few token Manticores to various people to use for advertising purposes making Youtube videos to drum up sales doesn't cut it, in fact it makes the situation worse for those waiting on them.

That's 700 preorders for one of 3 USA Distributors. I think he has about 80 Minelab Dealers. I have 35 on order out of that 700. Some dealers only drop ship, so they may only have a few on order. When the Nox came out, we only got a few in our initial order and it took about 3-4 months after shipping started to receive our full order. We don't require payment up front, but some dealers do.

I'm surprised that they would release two additional products before they got the Manticores all built. I'd guess it's a marketing decision to get people to hold off buying competing product.

Wow!  Just 14 Manticores!  That can't be an entire shipment, can it?

I wonder if Gerry is still going to be able to fly to Chicago to pick one up to take to Mexico.

And, as far as the 700 and 900 Nox I doubt they will be in production for a couple months or longer.

That’s 2 distributors, there is still Minelab direct that some dealers use. They actually have some Nox 700 and Nox 900s on the way to Chicago on Friday. No quantities mentioned, but at least the product is released.

  6. I saw another video of a guy testing his in the water on gold rings. The Equinox was sitting on the bottom, so it isn't going to be a detector that has has to be pushed down because of buoyancy issues. Some users are adding an empty water bottle under the arm cuff to help it bob when released.

Chase........ i dont know about the WM08....... but i can say you can also use wired headphones WITH bluetooth.   If thats the same with the WM08...... you could go wired and have 4 other guests..... for a total of 5 on one machine.   Now...... im thinking is it also possible to use a headphone SPLITTER and have 2 pairs of phones coming off the same WM08?   There ........ you have a whole class lol.

That's a great idea for a training class with everyone hearing the same tones. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I can give you a little background on Xtreme Scoops. John Volek is a Law Enforcement officer, forensic diver, forensic trainer, and metal detecting underwater recovery expert. He designed the Xtreme series of scoops after using most of the major suppliers scoops over the years. He solicited input from the detecting community as well as designed these to meet his needs. If you've seen his recovery videos, you have seen him placing an underwater grid of pvc pipe to grid off his search areas.

John wanted an extremely strong scoop that was lighter than the high end scoops currently on the market. These have added support inside the scoop as well as multiple tabs welded on the sides for increased strength. Currently there are three different configurations to assist in keeping small items from falling out of the scoop- X1/X2/X3. He is also releasing a smaller scoop called the Shredder in the next few weeks. These are all made in Texas, laser cut and tig welded.

I can vouch for his quality and design process. Check them out on his site or you can order them directly from my website.

    Hi Wayne,

Welcome to the forum! Just so you are aware there is a cost to being a dealer here. I expect you to help answer general questions in any way you can on any of the forums here. That is the price I demand for dealer presence. Otherwise you get free advertising and I get nothing in return when what I need most is knowledgeable people helping people with questions. It has to be a two way street to be fair.

As a rule I would not be allowing this much outright sales talk but since people are having a hard time finding machines it is a net positive - I think - so I am being lenient.

Overt dealer presence here is an experiment and it is up to dealers to make it work for me and the other members. As long as the benefits are clear to everyone then all will be well. If it is just dealers flocking here to sell product then I will have to change the rules. As I say, it’s up to dealers to make it work, not me.

    My Policy Regarding Dealers

Thanks Steve! I hope to be able to participate in ongoing discussions. As those that know me will tell you, I'm generally a low key kind of guy that try's to help others with answers when I can.
