COme on Joe, need to see you test some gold (please)
chains, rings etc.
-
ok, seems a long time away.
Its been a strange year for detecting, only just getting back onto (the deserted) beaches where I am.
I was doing so well first part of year before everything shut.
I use a CTX3030 and excal II with Nel coil on.
-
Interesting.
SO when will it be available in Europe ?
-
I hope to have mine next week

I'm admittedly more interested in the mermaid..
Understandable 🙂
Much better marketing than minelab on the vanquish toy.
-
When will it ship ?
-
We shall see.
Release has been delayed a week or so to do some final tweaks.
-
Release to pre orders is supposed to be next week (wk 9th sept)

To prevent , make sure to use some vaseline or silly-cone , sounds like some may have contact with detector manufactures and can ask what viscus fluid will help seal - but not degrade the factory seal .
No lubricant should be used on the battery seal. Even silicone grease will degrade the seal after 6 months.
The new batteries with rubber edging work great.
Just ensure there is no sand/grit in the grove before reinserting battery.

PS Another statement was made on the forum that you can’t do it all with one detector. Well just maybe one day that won’t be true.
If only.
I have 3 detectors just for sea hunts, each do different things.
At one time I had 2 CTX3030's but that is a different story.
-
I always now do a close visual on battery to bulkhead join when putting battery on to ensure there is no gap.
-
Agree the terra is a bit long in tooth these days.
-
Perhaps that thread should be moved out of prospection section and into minelab ?

ok, thanks guys...…...anxiously awaiting some better tech for the beach......the way the CTX3030 misses gold chains leaves a lot to be desired for me. I opted for the Equinox 800 because all the reviews I saw it pretty much held it's own with the CTX and it is much lighter and doesn't miss gold chains...…..looking for an even better option though.
The ctx gets most gold chains, the really thin ones not but the EQ needs to be right on top of it and the chain needs to be on surface, even then the EQ signal is weak.

Shawn I dont think the 7000 is a suitable beach machine, its set up for prospecting. If you want to get a better detector then look at a CTX3030, but make sure its the mark II with improved sealing on battery.

I wonder what the true failure rates were on the CTX? There would be manufacturer defect stuff like a bad o-ring. And there would also be operator error stuff. I am sure most CTX units that got used in the water never never leaked but beyond that it is hard to get a handle on. There are lots of examples on the forums that leaks do happen, no question about that. I am sorry yours was one of them.
I think the water ingress problem for sea users was very high.
I returned mine multiple times due to this.
Several others I know had same problem.
Thankfully the problem was solved with the newer grey seal and the battery rubber strip to close the gap between the bulkhead and battery.
This stopped the sand getting to the seal.

Like dynamo is an alternator .
That’s it.
wonder is “the contraption “ will have “the force”
?

I use my CTX primarily in the sea.
For the first couple of years it was travelling to Irish service centre and back every few months with leaks on battery join.
Each time new bulkhead and battery (cost paid by minelab).
However they did get their act together with the newer fatter GREY seal and the rubber seal on battery.
Since that changed a couple years ago its been fine, no leaks.
I am always a little paranoid when I recharge battery and check the seal area very carefully for no grit and I also use a silicone band to hold the release tabs down locked down.
-
In Europe customer service was alway excellent.
They did close the Irish repair centre a couple years ago and put it out to agents in different countries.
The one I have used again is excellent.

Accumulator is a battery. Bit of an old fashion word.

A ctx replacement ?

Its not a let down really. Its not meant to be a top end machine. The lack of good target info proves it.
It I feel is a very uprated but slightly flawed replacement for the Terra.
Unless the Vanquish is a replacement ??
The equinox was over hyped as being a ctx killer. Clearly not though it does have a great display and pinpoint.
As for the vanquish we shall see.
-
Interesting.
I am long term user of excalibur II and CTX3030. Primarily in sea water.
I felt the equinox was a let down.

Has anyone seen the silicon seal for sale again ?
A friend got one off ebay a year or so back now looking for one for myself.
