  1. Has anyone seen the silicon seal for sale again ? A friend got one off ebay a year or so back now looking for one for myself.
  2. COme on Joe, need to see you test some gold (please) chains, rings etc.
  3. ok, seems a long time away. Its been a strange year for detecting, only just getting back onto (the deserted) beaches where I am. I was doing so well first part of year before everything shut. I use a CTX3030 and excal II with Nel coil on.
  4. Understandable 🙂 Much better marketing than minelab on the vanquish toy.
  5. We shall see. Release has been delayed a week or so to do some final tweaks.
  6. Release to pre orders is supposed to be next week (wk 9th sept)
  7. No lubricant should be used on the battery seal. Even silicone grease will degrade the seal after 6 months. The new batteries with rubber edging work great. Just ensure there is no sand/grit in the grove before reinserting battery.
  8. If only. I have 3 detectors just for sea hunts, each do different things. At one time I had 2 CTX3030's but that is a different story.
  9. I always now do a close visual on battery to bulkhead join when putting battery on to ensure there is no gap.
  10. Agree the terra is a bit long in tooth these days.
  11. Perhaps that thread should be moved out of prospection section and into minelab ?
  12. The ctx gets most gold chains, the really thin ones not but the EQ needs to be right on top of it and the chain needs to be on surface, even then the EQ signal is weak.
  13. Shawn I dont think the 7000 is a suitable beach machine, its set up for prospecting. If you want to get a better detector then look at a CTX3030, but make sure its the mark II with improved sealing on battery.
  14. I think the water ingress problem for sea users was very high. I returned mine multiple times due to this. Several others I know had same problem. Thankfully the problem was solved with the newer grey seal and the battery rubber strip to close the gap between the bulkhead and battery. This stopped the sand getting to the seal.
  15. That’s it. wonder is “the contraption “ will have “the force” ?
  16. I use my CTX primarily in the sea. For the first couple of years it was travelling to Irish service centre and back every few months with leaks on battery join. Each time new bulkhead and battery (cost paid by minelab). However they did get their act together with the newer fatter GREY seal and the rubber seal on battery. Since that changed a couple years ago its been fine, no leaks. I am always a little paranoid when I recharge battery and check the seal area very carefully for no grit and I also use a silicone band to hold the release tabs down locked down.
  17. In Europe customer service was alway excellent. They did close the Irish repair centre a couple years ago and put it out to agents in different countries. The one I have used again is excellent.
  18. Accumulator is a battery. Bit of an old fashion word.
  19. The equinox was over hyped as being a ctx killer. Clearly not though it does have a great display and pinpoint. As for the vanquish we shall see.
  20. Interesting. I am long term user of excalibur II and CTX3030. Primarily in sea water. I felt the equinox was a let down.
