Im new so can only comment on the F-Pulse. I like mine so much I bought a second for my Wife to use. I think the main complaint you read about falseing is really a usage issue. When the unit starts to register but there is obviously nothing close, I quick press the button and it de-senses and I continue then to zero in on the target. For clad hunting at tot lots its amazing as it can pinpoint a quarter 2-3 inches under the surface with ease. I like that it is easy to program the different alert modes, can change freq so as not to interfere with my NOX600 .. Be glad to answer any questions anyone has, and if you were meet up close would lend one out for a trial.

More than likely the cell has shrink wrapped into it a protection circuit (Chip) to prevent over charging/discharging. Its a single cell so there is no need to balance charge like the multi cell LiPO batteries. Will be hard to tell until someone removes the shrink wrap and exposes what's underneath. Could also be a empty lead if the battery charging circuitry in the detector is designed accordingly.
But agreed until more facts are known I;d stick with OEM replacement, LiPOs are a fire danger if handled improperly while charging.
Edit;
I have a fair amount of experience with LiPO batteries in the RC and Ham Radio hobbies I partake in, but not claiming to be a authority by any means

No face book here either, IT guy and fixin to retire at 59 ( next July). I let my wife handle our face book presence to keep track of the goings on of the family and such, but me, just a few forums ... That said, Steves products are top notch and someone will be luck to win them, I know Im 100% satisfied with mine and wish him best of luck on the drawings.

NICE dig! Very nice Merc, congrats on it being your first, and WOW am I jealous of you living in middle Tennessee. I spent a couple of years in the Nashville area (Hermitage/Old Hickory area), and I LOVED it there!
SteveThanks Steve.
Im actually a north Alabama transplant (Nice there too). But I do love it here, especially the no state income tax deal...

How far down does your silver lay, in that park? GaryC/Oregon Coast
GaryC this one was a solid 8" down, being the only one I have found so far not sure what a average would be

Thats in really good condition. Always amazes me how good silver looks when you dig it.
Yeah, after digging all that crusty clad soon as I saw that silver edge sticking up I knew ...

Used the historic aerial site to do some research and found that the local ball field was just a plain ole park at first ..circa 1960.. so give it a shot. Based on the overlay I hit the original part of the park by some old trees and finally found my first silver ever .. 1941D Merc.. Hook firmly set now .. lol

Hit a local school lot twice the past few days, no silver, but the Equinox is a quarter finding machine ... And to boot nabbed a Sacagawea dollar ...
Only old place I have permission on had the old home bulldozed and there is scrap literally everywhere and Im not experienced enough yet to detect this environment.
Had lots of fun, got dirty and needed advil afterwards..LOL

I like the looks of that.. Good cross between a Lesche hand tool and a full on mini shovel like the Sampson. Would be perfect for me as some places the Lesche is not enough, and the Samson is just too conspicuous., good objective review too.. where might one obtain one of these?
Have a great weekendBrian

WW manufacturing company appears to be the people that made the Lesche tool. It to them is nothing to do with metal detecting, it's of course a gardening tool.

I'm considering getting a Sampson T-handle as a replacement for my Camping shovel. Has anyone had any experience with them? They appear to be made by the Lesche people at WW manufacturing.
phrunt.. Im new, but have the Sampson, its great in my rocky TN soil, have abused it pretty bad and no bends so far.

Its weird, and cant be the way its supposed to work .. I can get mine to re-connect like every 3-10 time I power both off, sequence makes no difference it seems... Works good once it reconnects ... I have a call into ML, had to leave vice mail .. Will report back once I get more info.
-
I've tried it both ways, its very inconsistent to the point I can't tell which way will work, 90% of the time I have to do multiple multiple on/off sequences before it re-connects ... Im going to call ML in the AM...
Thanks for the help

Chase,
Going exactly by the manual... Very iffy, just had it paired again, turn off both units then back on and it does not reconnect ... Do a factory reset and pair per the manual and it will after several attempts pair again, but when I turn things back off Im back to not connecting .
-
Dang,
Well... did a factory reset and back to not pairing .. this should not be so difficult..

So just ordered these
Sennheiser CX 6.00 BT Wireless in-Ear Headphones
Im assuming they should be "Big-brand" "Well Known manufacturer" enough and there are many posts of different forums of these working well with 600's
Fingers crossed
Brian
Well these do not pair either.. now to convince Minelabs support that my unit is faulty.
WEll, blow me down, they just now paired ...

Lacky,
Ended up sending the buds back and emailing Minelab .. Response as follows
We cannot qualify each implementation of A2DP and aptX-LL codecs on 3rd party headphones and it is the responsibility of the 3rd party headphone manufacturer to implement these correctly if they are specifying these codecs as a feature.
Reasonable statement as they cant test them all ...
And
The EQUINOX Series is compatible with both A2DP and aptX Low Latency audio codecs. We have not encountered pairing or connection concerns with ‘big-brand’ or well-known headphone manufacturers.
So going to try some from a "big-brand" vs the CHICOM stuff on amazon ... Will report back
Cheers

Fighting this issue here, have tried everything. Have a good pair of APtx-LL buds, they pair perfectly with everything else, but no bluetooth buds or speakers I have will pair with the 600. Tried the old software version, many FP resets, still no joy, plan to call Minelabs tomorrow unless I get the magic tip that makes it work.
Thanks.. Brian

Got it, I figurer being in the woods away from any power lines and such I should be able to run near max sensitivity and like suggested back down as needed.

all things the same and recovery dialed down to 1, it does hit it a little better, but not much..
Plan for next outing is factory defaults, park 1, noise canceled, default ground balance-no tracking, sens 20... may adjust recovery down to 2, but only if I start getting lots of signals.
Thanks everyone for all the comments and tips.
Regards
Brian

I'll dial it back to 1 and test again today ...
THanks

Steve, Didi just as you said and heard exactly what you said I would ... Didi have to bump senestivity up to 23 before it started hitting ...
Have a good permission deep in the woods along a creek that had 2 old 1900s home sites and hope to hit them soon,
Will keep it basic as all the tips say, not mode hop and have fun.
Thnaks
