Sorry to hear of your problem, I had the same code "CD" after using in the water but did not show sign of ingress.

Minelab told me to use another coil to test, I did not have a extra coil at the time so they asked me to send coil and control Pod

in for service. I shipped both, they replied my Pod was bad and sent me a replacement and my coil back.

My CD error code actually disappeared after I did a restart. But then came back with another code and locked up.

More than likely your Pod will need to be replaced.

Good luck and keep us posted. I do not submerge mine anymore. This is the 2nd one I had to send back don't plan on 3rd.

Yes, thank you very much, the pda has already been replaced .. now it goes better without problems

Probably a cost they are willing to bear because of the small percentage of users that submerge their units and the smaller percentage of those that will suffer failure.  Otherwise, a blanket product recall would force them to replace units that would never see a drop of water.

Of course not everyone submerges it and less with fear .. that is the gain, some but others not .. when the warranty ends, you can make some small modifications

I believe as it's a preexisting well documented issue Minelab in Australia and NZ will be forced to replace flooded units outside of warranty to Au/NZ residents due to our consumer protection laws.

It is strange even newer built machines still have the same problem as early ones, surely they'd work out the cause and resolve it as every unit that leaks costs them money.

It is a big problem and not only in a few units, more come out every day ...
In Europe it works differently, there are 3 years of guarantee in total. 2 years of store and one of minelab

Yes.  Just another false rumor that some of the final production units were not manufactured in Malaysia borne of the fact that ML refuses to explicitly acknowledge the issue and instead quietly replaces them under warranty leaving users to speculate widely as to the root cause.  At least ML are standing behind the product warranty.  But on the other hand, the silence on a problem that is obviously not just isolated to a few units (especially based on those individuals who have reported multiple failures) gradually erodes brand confidence and trust in my view and makes me wonder how this is going to be handled once the initial warranties start expiring early next year.

To the OP - contact the ML repair center for your region and get your unit repaired/replaced.  Speculation on what ML refuses to publicly acknowledge is just spinning wheels.

so all equinox are made in malaysia?
It is a pity that it is supposedly submersible but you do not know if it will survive ... we hope that in future models the fault is corrected ... the problem comes from the ctx 3030, I think I remember

My box label also says Made in Malaysia. I'm really sorry your unit took on water. Your hardship with the water ingress along with others has reinforced my decision to never submerge the control unit of mine. It's a shame because the Equinox is a good detector all around. Sort of sad that the one thing it is so good at (in the water) it can't be trusted 100% not to break because of these seal problems.

    Send it in for warranty!

If it's a shame, in your box it says something similar to mine, there is a small solution to the water filtration, I made a video but it is in Spanish, I only recommend doing it in products out of warranty.

  6. Hello, I had a problem with my metal detector, I was using it in the water, after several months it does not turn on and shows the message "CD" on the screen and then you can see the water inside ..
the guarantee I change it for another without problems a fast process
I have read, that water enters through the union of the handle to the pda (subjecting screws to the mast), according to what they say, this problem only happens to those made in Malaysia ... those made in Australia do not have that problem, the first series they come out perfect
does anyone know about this topic?
How do I know where my detector was manufactured?
I can attach photos of the box (where the manufacture comes) and compare with other users..thanks

my detector is equinox 800 February 2020

It does not seem like the update is the issue. More like you are on mineralized beaches and need to use Beach 2 and lower your sensitivity. That is what the overload symbol is telling you.

in the video used mode beach 2..

I understand, but the triangle does not appear anymore, it only appears with version 3. Now many false signals without stability, I have cleaned the coil, removing the protector and I have to try it again

Like others, I doubt the problem is being caused by the new firmware version.

If water, especially saltwater, leaked into your coil that could be a likely cause.  Try the other detect modes to see if the problem occurs across all 8 detect modes.  If it does, try to hook up to a friend's coil and see if that eliminates the problem.  I bet it does.  Either way you'll probably end up shipping the control pod and your coil to Minelab for warranty replacement.  They will need both pieces to confirm the problem.  Good luck.

ok perfect..thank you very much for the solution..I'll upload videos soon so you can see it..a pleasure

I can't imagine it has anything to do with the update at all.  If it was we'd all be getting the problem.

    Typical flash procedure is:

    Decrypt firmware
Flash the firmware onto the Flash rom
Verify the flash CRC matches the firmware file
If it verifies flash is complete
    If not, re-flash
Verify the flash CRC matches the firmware file
If not, report error and repeat

This is all automated by the flash utility, if it said success, it's fine.

I always do a factory reset before and after firmware flashes, old habit from the days when it used to be necessary.

You are either very unlucky that your Nox or coil has failed between the time you last used it and the time you flashed it, or you have a loose coil cable or something.  It would never hurt to flash back to the old firmware for reassurance.  If your computer had bad RAM and was corrupting the firmware during the flash it would be picked up by the CRC checking and the verify would fail.

Let's hope you can sort it out, check that coil cable is done up tight!

a day before it was perfect ... after updating it was bad ... I have returned to version 2 and it is not going very well ... I will check the connections ... I will try again on different beaches and record videos ... I have updated it with imac without any kind of problems ... I will inform you in a short time ... thank you all very much

If the factory reset doesn't solve the problem do you have a fellow Nox owner that would let you try his coil?  Thinking maybe you had a coil leak.  Do you read -9 in the other detect modes as well?

Good answer ... I would have to try another from someone ... I have not tried another detection mode ... right now I have it in v2 but it does not work very well ... it does not identify targets as before ... soon I will upload videos ... Could it be a problem with a damaged plate?

yup, I've had the overload triangle on black sand beaches in NZ, the entire time on the beach it was there.

I have downloaded the firmware version to 2.1 and now it is better ... I need to test on different beaches ... I think it works slow when detecting targets ... I will have to observe it ... I am on highly mineralized beaches (Canary Islands, Spain)

  12. Hi everyone ... I recently updated my equinox 800 to version 3. I have gone to the beach to test it ... after trying on several beaches the detector is unstable ... beach mode 1-2 ... the screen always shows -9 (with any sensitivity) I can not remove it ... sometimes a small triangle comes out next to the battery ... these beaches where I have always detected, never any problems ... anyone knows the reason
    EDIT:
software version 2.1, false signals continuously, sometimes with bad sound (centimes or garbage) I locate with pinpointer but without targets, unstable detector in and out of water
    some reason?

    Thank you

    regards
