Dealers do tend to focus on the positives and ignore the negatives of things, you wouldn't expect otherwise though.

I wonder why now there is only one gold mode?  I hope they're not taking the focus away from prospecting with it.  In all honestly around here I've not been able to see any performance difference between gold 1 and gold 2 anyway, it does seem odd though they've ditched gold 2.  It could be because I set my own recovery speed and iron bias to 0.

I think Simon you have put your finger on the problem. Besides he says '' there are 1 or 2 modes which are being improved at ML. The gold programs were hardly explained in the demonstration. The French Trader explains ''that in agreement with Minelab he does not take paid reservations because the detector is not fully finalised''. the barrel test remains questionable, BUT, 50 cm on a 2.50 cm bronze coin is promising and better than the Equinox for sure. The field tests would have been done on a very mineralized zone and under high voltage lines, it is what he declares, the other detectors (Nox and others) having more serious problems of stability than Manticore. Now for us in Europe it's going to be a godsend, as you can see we have 2000 years of history under our feet but with many types of iron, recent or old. All I can hope for the seller and lawrie is that archaeologists are not going to watch the video .

It's true that a detector with more user controlled options is going to take longer to learn properly, but I came to the D2 from the 800 (which I still love) and had no problems operating it and making good finds right away just using the stock programs. Now that I am learning more about the setting options and what they do, I'm really appreciating the more advanced flexibilty of the D2 in difficult ground conditions and it impresses me every time I use it.

Me too, I share this logic, but at the moment Equinox in the field and park program on the nuggets of 0.25 gr is ahead. Deus is able to detect terracotta pottery in X/Y which is very interesting in Europe (Celtic, Roman). When I learn Deus 2, I learn Equinox more, in France they would say "deus II is a gas factory" this may put some people off compared to Equinox which is simpler and more formidable on small objects. I said like Jeff let things be done at XP and let them hear that. In the same way I trust Minelab for a quick response to Deus II .......

  3. Hello everyone,
Thanks Jeff for sharing the D II depths video. The more I learn Deus II, the more I appreciate Equinox 800, especially for its ease of use and its ability to detect small nuggets. BUT version 1.0 of, will tell us more, be patient. With this video I learn and FINALLY understand the use of frequency additions and subtraction of conductive soil, the usefulness of Notch 23/25 in Sensitive at 16.49 Mn. In the same Relic program at 18.54Mn the tester says “conductive floor subtraction” whereas it is an IAR frequency subtraction (Page 13) but which acts on the conductive floor. He says in the end “in wet ground the programs of subtraction of the conductive soils are much more stable than the programs in addition of frequencies” which must be true but in France to find wet ground it will be necessary to wait a little. The information is very interesting for the further use of Déus II although on the small nuggets it is necessary to wait. I would compare these settings with the Nox on the depths because those seen on video are important.

    Merci! Maintenant c'est logique !

On sites with an ancient human occupation this horizontal line is very interesting. Ancient iron objects, spears etc. but also baked ceramics and statues. Do not "read" this indication as essentially rust.

On a French site I contacted an administrator who has himself contacted XP and here is his answer:
''I contacted XP who forwarded to the design office. They have already had some feedback on the subject and a modification will be made on a next update, not necessarily the next one but it is in progress.
Thanks to my XP contact for his quick response.
Slyworld has also posted, "I have shared this with XP".
    Hopefully we will be heard.

Me neither !!! I bet Calabash had the 3-11-22 version on his video and had no idea.

Does that mean Caroline that you have found the lost depth of 6 inches on the beach with the version 0.6 of 11/03?
I didn't have time to check.

    Hi everyone !

First of all, I'm a beta tester of the Déus II

Your feedback with this new version 0.6 have challenged me so I took some news directly from XP and I had confirmation that this version is only a little update just to add the chinese language and give them a little "bonus" as the big TID.

So don't worry about this new version, no discrimination change, no performance change, no EMI sensitivity change, nothing except chinese language and the big TID screen 🙂

    sincerely yours.

Hi Slyword, we noticed that the Theshold function on Déus II was more of a gadget than a real Threshold function because even when passing an object near the coil, this function was still emitting a continuous sound.
For all the detectorists who on the beach, on the goldfiels and on the relics we have this feeling of a useless function and unsuited to our detection mode.
As you made returns towards XP, was it evoked a modification of the function Threshold so that it is more effective? on this thread you will find the infos.

The two main areas I have and will use a Deus for are gold prospecting for smaller gold nuggets and for relic hunting. I usually do this type of hunting using a threshold tone. For relic hunting I sometimes use disc. IAR set on 3 to 5. For gold prospecting I leave disc. IAR on 0 or at most 1.

Clearly hearing the threshold tone vary, hearing very faint target responses and hearing non-ferrous responses amid ferrous responses are all important for me.

Even when I am using a discrimination mode, I always have at least part of the iron target IDs accepted so I can hear iron targets either as an iron tone or as a nulled threshold tone.

The WS back phone system does not help me with that hearing process. They simply do not fit my head no matter how much I adjust them, put tape or foam padding on them or literally bend them to fit my big head. When I wear a baseball hat with the plastic tabs on the back that have several holes on one side and little round tabs on the other, mine are always on the last tab and hole and the hat is still usually too tight. Since the WS does not fit, the ear phone pieces don’t fit either and the plastic rubs on the side of my head and irritates the top of my ears whether I am wearing sunglasses or not in about 45 minutes.

I won’t call the WS4/6 audio modules junk. They are fantastic. I will call the WS back phone system unusable for my head however so they might as well be junk.

For those that think I am complaining……I am not. I have been fighting with those back phones for 6 years now. I actually like the original back phones better than the newer “improved” design.

I seriously hope that XP get the threshold that is an option on Deus 2 working as at least a reference threshold soon.

Thank you Jeff for sharing your practice on goldfields, I have not yet tried on local gold rivers and I learn with you that the Theshold has its importance and these settings to be effective. I will eventually take the time to go and try the Deus II and Equinox in its terms.
For the WS4 and WS6 I hear your suffering and many complain about it especially on the receiver ear, but I always try to
or I always advise to be positive in these cases and with your WS6 you have to realize that among us you are the only one who will never "get a big head" because it is natural for you.

What I don’t find ( or understand) in the manual, I usually will find here in the postings of this forums very knowledgeable members. I’m sure I’ll get an XP Deus 2 book as soon as it’s published. I can’t imagine one not being written.

Me too! On this forum I find the answers or almost to my questions, sometimes even unexpected answers, technical, practical ect... The same questions on the French sites do not always find an echo, on the English sites more, but Detector Prospector concentrates the English-speaking detection practitioners of ANY type of detection. I also think that Steve Hersbach has this capacity to federate and to question himself, it's this soul that I like.

Is there a depth reduction if you're an atheist? 😄

The ways of heaven are inscrutable my son, even with an XP detector.

I like the WS6. Most of the places I use a metal detector it pays to be very aware of your surroundings.

In the forests of Europe we have wild boars and if there is a female with her babies it is better for you to hear them coming because you will have a bad time. For the beach they are not worth anything, it is better to try the Gray Ghost helmet but they are out of stock worldwide.
