Has anyone tried this combo out?
-
Welcome from Maine! My detecting journey started in your state back in 1999. The Tracker IV was my first machine, then the quick Draw 2. I went from there to many different machines. I always kept some Bounty Hunter units in my arsenal because of the discrimination skills they have. George Payne established some decent circuitry on those grounds. Others have followed. I have at least a dozen Bounty Huter machines today. They are solid when it comes to picking out the good stuff.
-
Added these to my growing museum collection. I have never used these machines before. I just like the old ones.
I picked up 5 machines as a lot locally last year. Nothing special, but they are just cool because they still work.
Only one of the crossfire coils worked. I found a used 10" Hothead coil online for a little over 30 bucks shipped. I will see how it works on these.
Single tone machines, no pinpoint button, very simple.
Check out the original price tag on the GTA350 lol

Dishonesty is a sad trait to have. I would rather show off all my beaver tabs than fake a find.
There was once a youtube person who got quite famous by yelling "hello world". Every time he posted his finds, there was a Franklin half. How many people find that many of those?
It should have been a sign.....he is apparently rotting in jail now for allegations against kids.

I'm not familiar with this detector but found this on YouTube. The fellow obviously knows the detector pretty well and to be honest, it looks intriguing and fun to use. I hope you can put up some pictures or videos (a phone shoots HD, save your money on a camera to start). Not every older detector is a wall hanger, a lot of them still work and find things!
Thanks for posting.
Bill
Thanks for the comments Bill. The machine I have is the original Land Ranger. Total different creature.
I have a Land Ranger Pro. It is a solid machine for the price. The Hunter GT did some great videos on a lot of machines. It is unfortunate that his health has prevented him from doing anything more in the detecting field.
I will take your advice on doing a video with my phone for now. I was only going to purchase a 50-60$ camera to start. I do not have the time in my life to become a detecting video blogger anyway lol.
It might me a few weeks before I can get out with a machine. I had a work related injury to my knee on Monday. Recovering from that might take a bit.

I saw it was in Waite but Calais was on the the map I posted.
No worries, I wouldn't have corrected you if I wasnt from there 🙂
Close enough for uptah camp.
Yes indeed!
All we usually get from the sky is pollution from west of us (It'a ALL west of us 🙄)
Jamie , you headed downeast ??
Not right away, but soon!
I'm imagining that there were a lot of locals buying detectors last week ! Maybe start a rental biz ?
Unfortunately there isn't anywhere close to buy one locally. I could probably make around 25,000 in a week renting mine lol!
Where are you now ? I'm in the Brunswick area....
I am in Bucksport

This is crazy!
It is actually in the town of Waite. I Lived there from birth to age 14. I played in the woods there.
There are logging roads running all around that area. I learned to drive on those roads. I still have lots of family in the area.
Very heavy woods, but pretty flat terrain.
I should take all of my machines and get 30 people to make a "FOD" walk line in those woods lol.
Probably the most exciting thing to happen in a town with a population under 200.

I just like collecting the classics lol. I am hoping that this one has the 0-299 VDI numbers.
My first one came broken. I sent it in to be repaired. They replaced the faceplate and the main board. It had the 0-165 VDI numbers after it was fixed, just like my Time ranger.
I need to get a HD video unit to forever put these machines on the map again.
I am probably the only vocal superfan for these machines.

I feel bad for people who have slept on the Vibra-probe pinpointers lol. They are great!

These models are a lot of fun for a tinkerer. I remember adding numerous features like ground balance and boost. I think we called them “Mr. Bill mods.” They are also the best in a bed of nails scenario.
I did that mod on my Classic SL3. Found my best coin with that machine.
-
I did not really need another one, but I had to save it.
I received it yesterday. Seller stated that it had never been used. It is probably the cleanest specimen I had ever seen.
The seller was an estate/second hand type business.
The downside was the on/off pot was broken. He probably didn't test it.
I stole the pot from my classic SL 1. Small solder job later I was in business.
I gotta stop collecting old machines lol.

Couldn't help myself on the auction site. More for nostalgia than anything else.
Yes I know that it is old technology, but I have always wanted one.
My second machine was the Quick Draw 2, so this will fill the gap nicely.

It is interesting that First Texas is selling off a bunch of things on their ebay store. Some machines at half the cost of ones at Amazon. Also lots of older parts for older machines.
-
The lite version appears to be a simpler Simplex lol. Less modes and less tinkering. More of the "just turn on and hunt" that a lot of people like.
-
I will throw out from my crystal ball a number for the lite model. I will say between $179-199. This is based on my own personal hunch.

So it was their answer to a Simplex, It's basically a Simplex feature wise and control box quality similar with switching frequencies and some magic trick to make it work well in salt.
Nokta were quick to fight back already letting it out there is new Simplex models coming.
This competition is great stuff, it's what First Texas should have been doing years ago rather than letting a monopoly take control, rather than releasing the F75 version 15 LE Super Special Edition with enhanced sparkly paint and a unique one off 7 colour LED backlight so you can run it like you're at a disco.
I completely agree!
Minelab and Nokta seem to be the only ones interested in competing for consumer money. Multiple "new" machines released in a short period compared to years past. Granted, most were probably in early design phases in the last few years, but couldn't get released because of the world wide thing that happened.
I would love to see Garret and First Texas get into this type of competition again. They could flex some muscle if they put their hearts into it. They have the finances.

A couple of things that weren’t clear is whether current Simplex coils will be interchangeable with the new simplex models, and whether the green 2.4 ghz wireless headphones will work with the Simplex Lite.
The lite model only has corded capability for headphones.
-
I am impressed on the new machines.
Weight has been reduced to 2.2 lbs.
The 2 upper models now have Bluetooth connectivity.
New coils are in the works also.
Frequency has been changed to 15khz from 12.
Pricing should be out within a week.
I commend Nokta on moving forward with products that give the customer options.
I do realize that these are a rehash in a way, but improvements have been made. They are not just resting on their laurels. -
-
I will add my very limited 2 cents. Those V8,10,12 coil are very good on my Vanquish machines. They should make that machine a solid contender.
-
I went field hunting today for the first time. I used my 340/V12 combo. What a blast! First big old copper for me. Probably doesn’t mean much to other people, but it was an 1861 1 cent piece with the New Brunswick name on it. I’m in Maine and half Canadian. That half is from that province. The 340 blew me away on how it did.
Also a few old buckles, a button, and a 1925 wheatie.

NEL coil
This should work on your machines. Also any that are listed for the Fisher F2 and F4 will work on the legacy BH machines. You might need a plug adapter if the coil comes with the screw in type plug.
