For me, if I were in Australia in those soil conditions, I'd not touch the Sadie and stick with a larger spiral coil of either 10" to 12" round or a 14x9" Spiral.    The Sadie would only go on if I needed the smaller size due to rocks and bushes or the like.

I agree, I think the 12" round evo is the ideal compromise between sensitivity to small pieces and depth on the bigger pieces. Anything bigger than about a 14"x9" coil isn't really much benefit to the E1500.

I also think the 4 gold modes are more like the ground type modes on the 6K and the 7k, but instead of normal and difficult you have 4 ground types. I've been running the E1500 in fine or normal. Ultra fine is a bit too sensitive for my ground and runs better in either fine or normal. Almost no hot rocks and smooths the ground mineralization right out. The target signal is sharper and brighter with a stable quiet threshold.

I wouldn't write the small bundle coils off just yet as I'm sure they will come into play if the ground gets saturated again. I remember when I got the 6K the ground was just too wet in places to be able to use it even in difficult and minimum sensitivity.

  2. Probably the best video I've watched so far on the E1500, pretty much mirrors my results. I think he would have got slightly better depth with a round spiral coil like a 9" elite ,11" elite or the 12" evo.

Just a shame he never tested the pinpoint ID numbers on all the different nuggets whilst they were buried. From my experience the nuggets can ID anywhere from 00 to 30. The smallest ID at 00 and I think that's because they are too small to get an accurate ID, just like tiny bits of rust, wire, lead shot ect. Slightly bigger and they ID in the 1,2,3 's and the ID numbers increase as the nugget size increases.

Yeah mate... that stuff looks the go. I forgot I have something similar on my table tennis bat, but the gear you’re using looks 100% better. What does a roll of that racquet grip cost. I reckon I’ll do the rest of my handle with it.

I buy them off ebay, a dollar or two per grip. Lots of different types and colours to choose from.

  4. I also use tennis racket grips on all my detectors. I have fairly large hands and they help stop them cramping up from squeezing the handles of the detectors. The thicker handles with the racket grips are a better fit for my hands and I use the ones with a raised ridge that stops my hand sliding up the handles. An added bonus is that they are easily replaced and when removed the detector looks like new underneath them which helps if I go to sell the detector.

You'll start to find some smaller gold you previously missed, that's for sure.

I agree with phrunt that you'll definitely find smaller pieces, with the E1500 that the 4500 has missed.

I have had the 3500, 4000 and currently the 4500 which I have had for a long time now. I'm 69 now so hopefully the lighter weight will stil keep me activley enjoying being out there, as such I'm not so concerned that it won't measure up to some of the other minelab machines.

The lighter weight will be a blessing, but the extra sensitivity means you'll be up and down a lot more recovering those small previously undetected targets. I'm 60 and that's what knock's me around. Seems to be a long way down there these days, I'm doing a lot more grunting and groaning than I used to. LOL 😆

There was a whole video on the new patents he has got for the huge 6m coil that was discussed on this forum. I suspect he is referring to that. Hope it is something different.

Yea I hope it's something different too. He's been saying to hang onto all your old coils for quite awhile now, hinting that they will come into play again.

When the E1500 was released I thought he must have been suggesting keeping them to use on it.

But now I think they might be for his new beaut detector.

There is actually something satisfying about recovering an incredibly tiny bit of gold, kind of a "I can't believe I found something that small" sort of thing. It does take some proficiency to be good at it

Yes I agree gives you a lot of confidence knowing you have the detector tuned to perfection and your working in harmony with it.

Nice, the one in the bottom right looks like a potentially difficult target for a PI to hit and thus seems the Algo is doing well there for speci stuff.

I could of easily dismissed that speci as a hot rock, no visible gold and very light. After a bit of spit and a rub on my jeans I found a bit of gold poking through the dirty coating.

G’day Ned.... that’s a good haul with the Algo, well done. Are you in the GT ? If so does it run stable over your ground with regards to variable mineralization. Also, does the  SP01 improve your chances with those faint iffy signals ?

I'm in NSW and yes it's stable. I'm impressed with how stable it runs and handles emi. It still requires regular ground balances but I do that when investigating the slightest of murmurs anyway. Yes I think the sp-01 and headphones help with the iffy signals (for me anyway). First time out with the E1500 I used the speaker only. I've been using  headphones and boosters (enhancers) ever since I bought a second hand SD2200 (when the extremes first came out). I couldn’t believe the difference without them, wind, trees blowing, traffic on the highway, dry leaves on the ground sounded like running the coil over corn flakes not to mention the sound of the plastic rubbing over the ground. I felt naked without my headphones on blocking most of that noise out.

  10.

Split from another thread so don't blame Ned for the title - that is mine. Yeah, I know Simon and probably others have found gold already, but this from Ned is more like what we want to see and so worth a thread of it's own. Congratulations Ned on a good start! - Steve H

    Reviews and ..GOLD

Maybe I missed a post but.......Anyone found Gold Yet?

I've been out probably a dozen times with the E1500. Mostly testing a variety of coils the first few days. Then settings and combinations. I also rigged it up with a wireless set up and a sp-01 enhancer and headphones.

After all that I got in some  detecting time and managed to find my first gold for the year.

7 pieces all found with the E1500 and coiltek 9"round elite. Biggest bit went 2.7g and the smallest 0.13g. The heat's a killer here at the moment, if I didn't have a new toy to play with I wouldn't be out there.

Is this not reason for concern though if true? I would expect a high-performance detector to be very sensitive to changing mineralization conditions, hence the need for frequent GB when run in manual. This was the reason why auto track was introduced (for those who like it). Unless the detector is less sensitive and does not need frequent fine tuning, of course, despite variable ground. I don't think you can have it both ways, something has to give.

    GC

Yes I still ground balance frequently, but it doesn't start screaming it's head off every few steps. It remains fairly stable and handles the ground changes remarkably well.

Get it out in the fields where it will compete to some users with the rest on a number of fronts... ergonomics, coil availability and its GB 'ability', it has something different there in that it stays stable with less GBing  for a sensitive detector. Certainly as shown already not all users are going to go for it, a fixed GB machine is perhaps not for all those who prefer a tracking machine, at this stage that and not being wireless are two 'negatives' if one forgets price. It`s replaced the Axiom and SDC in my arsenal on my ground but not the Z and 6K and that`s not price influenced. I love swinging it as I suspect a lot will, but not everybody.

The stable ground balance is the most impressive thing for me. I'm certainly not ground balancing as much as I would have expected in hot variable ground with a sensitive detector.

Okay thanks. Yes, that is normal.

OK thanks, I just got to remember to connect a coil first before the power bank.

When I first got the machine I was putting it together and connected the battery and it started making noises. Looked at the screen and it was going,  turned it off real quick and connected the coil.

Luckily no damage done, still works fine.

On the E1500 I think a 17x13" evo would give you the best depth on a 20c coin. I did a quick air test on pretty low sensitivity (near the house) on a bunch of coils, and the 17x13" was the best by about 5-10mm.

Just curious how were you altering the depth if the target was already buried - just raising the coil or using blocks?

I was stacking flat rocks on top of each other until I could just hear the coin. The E1500 could just get it at ground level,  but the 6k could get it at an easy 6" above ground level.

Just a quick question Nenad, is it normal for the E1500 to turn itself on when you plug in the power bank ?

The 17x13"evo on the E1500 would be a better comparison with the 17x13" 6k coil.

I was initially thinking of ordering longer ones too, then it occurred to me that I never need to remove the cable, to charge my battery bank I'll just plug another cable into it, so why not just use some decent quality black tape and tape it on, that makes this 25cm size ideal.  It will be locked in place and look neat and tidy.

The cable is very heavy duty, nice gold connectors too.

I was thinking if I moved the control pod or smaller batteries ect, it might be handy to have a bit extra length. I'd still tape over the extra cable turns to tidy it up.

Has anyone compared the depth capability of the Algoforce E1500  with the GPX 6000?

From my testing the 6k is better than the E1500 with any coil or settings for depth. As you would expect for the price.

The difference becomes a lot more obvious with larger coils.

I tested the larger coils on an Australian 20 cent piece that I buried deep years ago. The 6k with the 17"×13" minelab coil will hit it 6" to 8" deeper than the E1500 with larger coils.

    The big coils I tried:

    18" coiltek elite

    18" nuggetfinder advantage

Still haven't tried the 15" nuggetfinder evolution, it's the next contender when I get out again.

That Jaycar battery looks pretty good, being a reputable company, their battery is likely true to specification too.

It's great to have another Algo user on the forum to discuss it with, it's been a bit lonely.

Another USB battery cable arrived today from my orders of various cables to try on it in my quest to find my perfect cable.

    IMG_1652.thumb.jpg.87dbb3dab6985395578439b213bb851d.jpg

This one appears very good quality, it's significantly thicker than the standard cable which is the one I've sat over top for thickness comparison.

I was worried it would be too thick to fit through the little cut out they've done for the cable, but in fact it fits exactly, so there is no longer a gap around where the cable enters.

    IMG_1651.thumb.jpg.37471ee5892312d7b1cea33c68414873.jpg

I need to fiddle with wrapping it more, this was a 25cm cable, perhaps I should get the 30cm version as that would allow another shaft wrap to keep it neater.

    IMG_1648.thumb.jpg.3aa8302c95e510b2d39e430ca4459530.jpg

The right angle is doing as intended and tucking the cable neater so it doesn't get hooked on stuff, as you can see by the photo below the straight cables are a bit of a hazard.  Of course, you could pull the standard cord upwards and make it head straight up like the right-angle cable, but then you're putting pull force on the USB port, not a good idea.

    IMG_1642.thumb.jpg.38679751c18443a20fba834519dec5ef.jpg

I've now also got all of the correct USB port covers to cover the unused ports.

    IMG_1650.thumb.jpg.ed558d5a638bf3f5cb778f49c9723515.jpg

Not even wrapping the cord probably gives the neatest results, and an added bonus is the thicker USB cable with the right-angel strapped on like this really secures the battery in place.

    IMG_1654.thumb.jpg.223cc97fea236f7139081b395cf52428.jpg

So quite happy with this cable, best so far and would work on all battery banks.  Here is a link to where I bought it if anyone's wanting one.  Select the UP angled version.

    Thanks phrunt, love your work.

That cable looks the go. Heavy duty and angled connection. A bit longer to get a wrap or two around the shaft and it will be perfect.

Will be ordering a couple for my E1500. 👍
