  1. Patents are different than  copyrights..

Apparently a polite and professional cease and desist notice did not put an abrupt end to the saga.,

That may be why we see 1 distributer named, yet another distributer is not mentioned.

Its going to be a long 6 months until we see the final outcome.

Its a costly shame, with no real winner.

Honestly heath issues have cut my detecting to just above nil.  2019-20 i was learning the 800 and feeling good about my detecting.  But i never messed with tone pitch and all the sound capabilities except lowering iron volume.  Tried a few programs on user profile for deep silver.  Anyway the 800 is chugging along fine and until it dies or the new units are proven i'll be happy dirtsniffin with what i have.  Fun to see the progression but learned a lesson in 2018, salute to all you Buzz Lightyears 🥇

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I didn't notice the street light but I did notice he mentioned one of our very own moderators here having sent him the gold nugget.  Hmmmm.

Actually, I believe it was more that just 1 nuggett...

    One looked decent in size..

    Bigger than a typical picker.

Ive got to go watch again.

Most importantly,  it went to a great cause.

After all, Calabash was up early this morning, and truth be told, probably still at it right now, producing more content.

Gold or no gold, that guy is a tropper.

Didn’t notice the street light going out but the” people, actually one person, that generously gave CD a sub gram nugget is on this forum. John just can’t pronounce his name right or NASA Tom’s either.

Well, sending out gold certainly speaks volume about the generosity within.

But yes, if you watch closely, the light goes out!

I don't think the metal detector Youtubers make that much.  I heard some of them say it is in the hundreds of dollars a month.  I doubt there are many of them making a thousand or more monthly.  That isn't a lot for the time they put into the videos and the cost of buying new detectors.  Then they still need a job to make ends meet.

One of those youtubers mentoned today, that people were sending him gold nuggets!

Right when he mentioned that, the street light went out above his head!

    Did you catch that?

Detector wars are prohibited on these forums, since it fosters conflict with fellow forum members. Calm sane rational discussion is the order of the day here, not picking teams and engaging in team sports. Nokta is no where near going out of business. That’s baseless pot stirring.

Nokta clearly lifted heavily from Minelab, especially in the look and feel aspect of the Legend user interface. Icons are near identical, for instance. Who knows about the aspects of the multi involved, more a question for engineers. We will see when details emerge, but one would assume Minelab is alleging some violation here regarding how the multi is implemented.

The irony here is Minelab immediately copied Nokta back, including the flashlight and up to now Nokta exclusive vibrating handle. Add the telescoping rod, and the new Equinox upgrades look more like the Legend than ever. A stick in Noktas eye?

People who wants to go on about this outfit copying that outfit don’t know how product development works. Companies copy what succeeds elsewhere all the time, in virtually every product made and service sold. Unless it violates a patent, it is the norm. Equinox is very similar to the earlier Quest designs. Who is copying who? Companies also cross license technology from each other as a regular part of business. Worst case here is Nokta might be forced up to pay Minelab if there was a use of some patent. I suppose they could try and force a stop in sale of product, but that’s pretty rare, unless it’s really blatant, like the Quest and Fisher thing. Or the whole thing gets dismissed as just another blocking tactic by Minelab, which they are not shy of undertaking, just to mess with the competition.

Be interesting to see how it unfolds, but pretty much a sideshow as far as most of us are concerned.

Equinox was released in 2018. This is the Deteknix Quest Pro and Deteknix Quest Gold from 2016. Anyone see any resemblance between these and the later Equinox, and then Legend? Or is it also the coincidence of great minds thinking alike, and form follows function? All smart phones look alike. Some of that is copying, but some is just because a phone needs to be a phone.

    Your right.

    Justice will prevail!

Unfortunately, the only winner here, will be the numerous attorneys involved.

After looking at the Minelab website, it looks like the 700 and 900 are 'ready to go'.  What I mean by that is when Equinox was announced, it took a long time before modes were finalized, beta testing complete, software completed, and the corresponding manuals and spec's finalized and put up on the website and available for download.

Equinox 700 and 900 are already squared away. Modes are completed, manuals written, websites updated, spec's listed. Are we looking at 2 detectors ready to start shipping asap? Did Minelab distract us with the Manticore while pulling these two rabbits out of the hat?  There is typically a corporate discount on legacy items in inventory as new product comes up online.  Clean out the old and make way for the new.  And here I thought this seasonal discount was simply minimizing damage caused by Nokta's Legend and XP's D2 until the Manticore could be made ready to go. I should have recognized this without the hint.

Perhaps the bleeding from the Legend and D2 was worse than realized - Regardless, well done by Minelab.

I dont think Minelab is bleeding too bad, as a result of the legend.

Minelab is years ahead of the game.

The real question in my opinion, is how bad is Nokta bleeding?

Having an LCD screen makes it so much easier to navigate and use, I really like it.  The Nox will feel ancient when I fire it up after using the Manticore.

    I agree.

The screen is clearer, and projects a sharper image than some new cell phones!

What have been revolutionary detectors for you, and why?

What changed the game after it hit the market? Best/worst quirks? What kind of history do you have detecting, etc.?

The Nokta Legend certainly ranks up there with  "changed the game after it hit the market."

Since the Legends inception , Nokta has addressed 34 changes.

34 changes, 4 firmware versions, plus a tool to help owners keep up to date, with the updates.

All this since its inception , a short time ago.

    Legendary!

  10.  Im getting a headphone head ache!

I find it mentally exhausting to improve a audio product, that is not even released yet.

I have a feeling that the Minelab audio techs know what they are doing, and they will be great!

I plan on hunting gold and silver, not listening to Beethoven!

  11.

I do not expect the Manticore  to be able to 100% positively identify a pull tab from  a gold or silver ring.

I believe the increase in the  ID numbers (0 to 99), will be a tremendous asset, compared to the already great Equinox.

I also believe the 2D screen will  give a rough idea as to the shape of the target.

Those 2 features alone,  should be enough information to differentiate a pull tab from a ring or coin SOME of the time.
But I do not expect it to magically make digging a bad target obsolete.

I suppose its all about realistic expectations with the information that the 2D screen provides.

If the 2D screen provides useful information as to the shape of an target, I believe we will have another great product from Minelab!

Well it’s finally about to happen.  Minelab has updated US dealers with a confirmed Price $1599 and Part #.  YIPPIE!!!!

This must mean that things are starting to come along and hopefully we see/hear updates more frequently as the production moves along.

I’m looking forward to this new model and finding out how good it really is.  My Staff members and I will be doing our part using it in a variety of states, terrains, hunting styles and situations so we can come up with our own conclusions of how it stacks up to the competition.  We also provide this hard earned and sometime long hours of use.. info to our customers to help them make the right choice for their next detector investment.

Here's a bone for you all who already own the EQUINOX and waterproof headphones.  YES they will work on the Manticore as well.

Not many dealers are as well rounded in a variety of metal detecting hunts of different treasures as my Field Experts.  We’re also the same guys who’s been offering “Metal Detector Basics” for the new and “Advanced Gold Detector Training” for the Nugget Hunters for the last 25 yrs.  I’m pleased to announce we’ll be doing the same with the Manticore and those customers who purchase from us.  Be sure to view my website Calendar of Events right after the New Year to see what options we provide for you in 2023.

And again, Gerry’s Detectors will be offering the 15% Military Discount to all active and prior US Military.  As a Veteran myself, I feel privileged to honor and help those who have served, to get the next detector in your hands.  You earned it and so might as well take part in the additional savings.

Here’s some of what we have learned so far.

    Overview

    • MANTICORE with Multi-IQ+ is the most powerful, fastest, and precise metal detector in Minelab’s history.   Interestingly, they did not say it’s equal to the Equinox, E-Trac or even CTX-3030.  Boy that’s a pretty bold statement, but as always Minelab has been able to back it up, so I expect nothing less.
    • The heart of MANTICORE is its super-charged Simultaneous Multi-Frequency (MULTI-IQ+) engine. This feat of innovation generates an incredible 50% power increase over the best-selling detector series of all time: EQUINOX.  I wonder how much depth increase (if any) that will equate to?
    • When combined with advanced 2D Target Identification (ID) and rich audio options, the detectorist has every bit of vital information arriving at their eyes and ears. I’m thinking more to the ID system of the very popular E-Trac and CTX 3030, which I missed on the Equinox.
    • MANTICORE is an unrivalled detecting experience that pushes the boundaries of detecting to deliver more power, more depth, and more finds.  Yet to be confirmed, but with Minelab Engineering track record, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time, maybe even days/or weeks?

    More info

    • MULTI IQ+:  Minelab’s revolutionary technology has 50% more power than traditional models and is the highest-powered simultaneous multi-frequency machine on the market.
    • FAST RESPONSE:  Identify your targets quickly and confidently to efficiently sort between trash and treasure with exceptional target separation performance.
    • POWERFUL 2D ID MAP:  Identify your targets with greater visual and audible target insights.
    • ENHANCED DISCRIMINATION: Exceptionally accurate target ID allows you to accept or reject finds quickly and confidently.
    • WIRELESS AUDIO: Clearly detect with audio controls set specifically for you in order to identify targets confidently, reduce noise and identify trash.
    • ULTIMATE SEARCH MODES: Over 10+ preset search modes allow you to set the stage for success, with the ability to customize up to 10 unique modes tailored to your specific needs.
    • UNRIVALLED CONSTRUCTION & WATERPROOF: Powerful yet lightweight, Manticore weighs only 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs.) and includes a three-piece, compact Carbon-Fiber shaft system. Waterproof up to 16 ft (5 m).
    • INTUITIVE CONTROL: The large LCD panel allows for easy viewing and clear navigation control.
    • BOOSTED EMI IMMUNITY: In challenging environments, improved EMI rejection uses higher sensitivity to isolate targets.
    • CHOICE OF COILS: Comes with the M11 (11″ Round Double-D coil) and choose from M8 (8″x5.5″ Elliptical Double-D) and M15 (15″x12″ Elliptical Double-D) coils.
    • LIGHTING & VIBRATION: Detect even when the sun goes down with features such as Control Box Flashlight, Display Backlight with Auto Adjust, Backlit Keypad and Handgrip Vibration.
    • CLEAR AUDIO: Built in external speaker allows for crystal-clear audio and comes with Low Latency Wireless Headphones.
    • BUILT TO LAST: A three-year warranty with software upgrade capability allows detection far into the future.

I’ve been warned that the detector release could be similar to that of the Equinox series.  Those units came into the US in small allotments and then were divided amongst the dealers and how many we ordered.  I assure you and just like with the Equinox rollout, I should be able to get more units to my customers faster than many others.  Getting on my Pre Order List should be your priority so be sure to email me at gerrys1det@gmail.com  No money down needed at this time.

So it looks as if Minelab has taken some features from 3 of their top selling/performing VLF type detectors (E-Trac, CTX 3030, Equinox) and combined them with new technologies and improvements for the ultimate do it all detector.  From someone who has had fantastic results and success with all 3 of those models and most recently the Equinox, I’m extremely excited.  Just take a quick peak of Equinox treasures I shared in the few pics, just to give you folks an idea of what I’m expecting and then some.1MEQA.thumb.jpg.fb1ea152c44d8cdca93f7d578af8d449.jpg1MEQB.thumb.jpg.e20b617c42dde7490e255a45a49feecf.jpg1MEQC.thumb.jpg.0d72c2203f33673a314247ab6e8e79db.jpg1MEQD.thumb.jpg.8252cda2e182bf6c3e3b2fcb5008971f.jpg1MEQE.jpg.a2de87126a2da5482bae80f48087c5b4.jpg1MEQF.thumb.jpg.7fc5be99d39c68fd678586a2ebb0d05f.jpg1MEQG.thumb.jpg.94173dd3130278fa76abe900ad92f7c2.jpg1MEQH.thumb.JPG.4a8e1091e2e9076efb6249378b3462f8.JPG1MEQI.thumb.jpg.a8aa49883cab438e8e0778c1e00c0cfd.jpg1MEQJ.thumb.jpg.e1392a2b136965768046477a12da93f2.jpg1MEQK.jpg.eef40e82d1d210b2a28076a7b8fcdac2.jpg

Some of my eye/ear catching from above info we've been provided so far....

    - VIBRATION Mode built into the handle.  I actually look forward to this feature and know of a few folks who will be very happy.  They have taken this from the pinpointers and I feel it’s a nice bonus to have.  Hopefully the rest of you enjoy it as much.

    - 2.9 pounds is the advertised weight.  Heck that’s fantastic as it’s now even lighter than my Equinox.  I’m a big fan of carbon fiber as well and glad to see they went this way for the Manticore.  No more issues for us guys in the salt water for hours at a time.

    - Coil size selection.  I’m a big fan of the small 6” round for the EQ and CTX and even bigger fan of the small 6” Ellip found on my VLF type gold detectors.  Minelab says a new 8” x 5/5” semi ellip.  Pretty excited for this one as many of us like the ellip and the heel/toe pin pointing and into rocks/brush and other tight areas.  I’d hope CoilTek is working on a smaller coil as well as a 15” round for ultimate depth.

Did I mention that we just don't sell detectors, we live with them?

Looking forward to earning your business and helping you become successful.

Gerry, you mention a new Minelab "8" x 5/5" semi ellip" coil from Minelab...Is this 8" x 5.5" ? Any details on that? Looking forward to a small Minelab coil! Thanks in advance!

I'm starting to think the Minelab crew is on an extended vacation.  But I looked up Chazy, NY and it's a stone's throw from Montreal.  They probably heard how beautiful the Fall leaves are in that area but didn't realize that season there is over at the end of September!  (Don't forget to bring the snow gear, ML.  OK, I'm exaggerating a bit.  😉)

    Snow?

How about a HURICANE in Florida, just days before their arrival....

They dont call it the "BEAST" for nothing!

Yes, as explained several times (and in that video), when the pressure on the gold price doesn't correspond with what 'they' want, they simply manipulate the price to suit their current agenda. The natural forces of supply and demand are not able to make the price move as expected. They keep buying at a reduced price until the time is right for them to allow the price to rise, then dump a significant quantity at the now higher price.

I believe we can expect 2 more interest rate hikes, before the year 2022 ends.

Who knows how that will effect the price of gold?

We may not see a bottom for a few more months???
