  1. I've been running the axiom for the past year, mainly in places that been creamed. I've hit small gold flakes behind a guy with a 6000, 1 was 0.4 grains. not saying the axiom is better. Maybe the guy on the 6000 was a sloppy detectorsist. I favor the dd coils over the mono coils, my experience is the dd coils are smoother the 11 dd coil can't hit smaller gold than the 11 mono. I like a machine that runs smooth, in my current area I'm hunting the ground is very hot. It fools the 7000, the sdc but as bad. I have to run the axiom at level 3 maybe 2 sensitivity which kind of kills the soft signal targets, however I have a remedy for this that is use....the steel phase audio booster works pretty good. I can run smooth and and have the light whisper targets enhanced. I'm not a fan of the wirles headphones..theirs an issue with the built in receiver in their head phones. I run my own z link wireless. transmitter into the headphone jack the receiver to my steel phase audio booster with my preferred killer bees headphones. I'm hoping for some new 3rd party coils for the axiom

  2. My personal experience with the axiom and coils. With out doubt the axiom blows the 7000 out of the water on small gold, and I've pick a few dinks out of a patch creamed by a 6000, not saying the axiom is better or the 6000 is better on small gold, alot of different scenarios at play for a creamed patch, maybe the coil didn't scan at the right places. One dink was 0.4 grain at 2.5"  using the 11" dd. Which I find the 11 dd is far more sensitive than the 11 mono for small gold. I'm hoping for a sensitive coil like the dd but edge sensitive like a mono. Last week I hit a few specimens one was in a hole drop a detector scrape, and the other was next to a detector hole that was 12-13" down. Maybe the prospector who scanned that area was sloppy? Overall I like my axiom and I don't run my sdc2300 anymore on an occasion I'll run my 7000. Like i mentioned earlier I would like a coil for the axiom sensitive like the 11 dd fc coils but edge sensitive like a mono coil.

No, as stated in the thread it is made by X-Coil.

Interesting! Never heard of them until my last post. Must have skipped that part stating the manufacturer. Knowing detech was working on coils thought x coil was the coil name from detech...lol lol. Did some research and a few emails exchanges, very friendly and fast responses. I will be notified when some axiom coils are available. In the mean time I may purchase a 10" coil for the 7000, would mind the 8" but I don't thinks it's available yet. My stock gpz 14 coil no longer functions so that pigtail will turn into the adapter.

  4. Very interesting. Detech making this coil? Been running the axiom for the past 8 months now and been pretty pleased. My only concern I see with this coil, if the hot spot is in the center like the DD, is that I flip the coil over when retrieving micro targets to get right over the hot spot. Doesn't look like that's obtainable that the the stem is right infront of the end of the shaft. However I do think that's a sexy looking coil. I'll buy one when it's released.

Yes sdc runs quiet and has a stable relaxing and calming thresh hum, but the 6000 will pick targets out of that quiet you never knew about.  I loved the sdc for years and was a promoter of it, but once the 6 got strapped with the 5x10 Coiltek, I parted ways with the ol sdc.  The 6000 folds down almost as small, better swing balance, and just plain more fun to use.

Ive seen you in action wes you are definitely the king in our area.

Well done and congratulations. I hope to see more posts like this in the coming months with people really maxing out the capabilities of this detector.

It’s cool you got to compare the same target with a tried and true PI like the SDC, because if that SDC says to dig you dig….unless it simply cannot see it for whatever reason. I don’t see this as a PI vs. PI or Brand vs. Brand situation but rather an advancement in sensitivity and closing detecting holes. If I had an SDC, I’d keep it because few detectors are going to perform as reliably as that tank. Minelab made something special in that machine, but it is simply a tool and every tool has its limitations.

There’s no test that can demonstrate your real world experience, so this kind of detailed post is super helpful. Thank you for taking the time to share this.

Here are some pictures of the gold i recovered, my camera is busted so i had to utilize the selfi camera, why the garrett on the coil is backwards.

  7. Im aleays in favor of an elliptical shape coil over a round in jist about in any application. In reality for me im more interestedin in the big deep gold, if i hit 1 lunker all day im more satisfied than hitting 10-15 dinks. Gold is gold and it all adds up and it is fun hitting dinks all day too. If garrett came out with a size coil like you mentioned i would add it to my collection for sure. A small nugget could weigh virtually nothing but be flat and a sensattive detector could still signal off it if its laying flat. How ever ive hit very small crystalline gold inside mines with a vlf that no pi could be able to hit. I do think its important for a serious prospector to have multiple detectors, like having firearms for home defense, self defense and huntung. I run a 7000, "Was" sdc now i replaced it with the axiom, and a vlf. I had the whites gmt for a very long time, was actually my 1st gold detector, i actually really liked the gmt. But it got damaged and was forced to get a different vlf, just got a gold kruzer and have long way to go to master that machine.

  8. I appreciate your overview of the stock DD actually being the fc version. The more i read your thread the more i would relate to my experience with small gold/targets out in the gold feilds. I had learned the 1st day out the center was the hot spot, as i chased a very small micro dink for a few minutes the edges the tip and the tail wouldn'thit that small of a piece, i had got fonfused i could hear the signal but couldn't pin point with the edge or either corner, ended up flipping the coil over and ran acrossthe center with my scoop, thats when i realized how sensitive the center was for small targets with the 13" DD incognito fc. Which makes sence seeing the wave and hot spot pattern in the fc video in relation to the small gold recovery experience. I actually weigh that micro dink becausei was impressed a 13" dd could pick that up 0.8 grain.

  9. Failed to mention the battery life for the axiom is fantastic plus the booster pack is great, I could run all day with the sdc and 3/4- 7/8 of the day with the 7000 if you can last all day pretty much all you need just recharge at night. I like you can really tweak the axioms settings to perform what you intend to hunt like the 7000 almost plays a big role.
