  1. My handle is Dirtrider, I use to race ride dirtbikes, it was my passion when I wore a younger mans clothes... 40 50 yrs ago. In my Mid 70s now... In the 1990s, I started using metal detectors, I brought my Garrett from Mi to Marco Island, Fl. I found out real soon that this garrett a CX CTX I don't recall the model a Green machine, that did not do well on the saltwater beaches. Did enough research on internet to find out Minelab made some that did well here, with wife drove up to Winter Haven I believe the town was, Kellyco I am sure you all have heard of them.. Purchased a new Sovereign it had the target ID thing a ma bob, still have it, just replaced the insulation on the coil cable it all fell off, must be the heat in FL is tooooo much for it. I just unsoldered the MIC connector and put on Marine grade heat shrink tubing, hardest part is the connector unsoldering and re-soldering. I have done many. (ham radio). Abt 3 or 4 yrs ago I did try detecting on a beach in Venice, FL close to where we spend the winter months hmmmmm there were no signals I searched and searched, must be they clean the beach with some sort of machine that even picks up all the junk as there are mostly NO signals, do find some signals out at the waters edge.. Now we are back in FL for the winter and have gotten the bug for detecting and it seems worse as far as signals even at LOW tide FEW signals at the waters edge, looks like I have to drive a bit and look at other beaches, now I have a new NOX 800.. EveryONE have a great ThanksGiving!
