Amen phase tech , I field tested my new ctx 3030 , actually did not make it into the field , actually did not make out of the garage . Catastrophic failure not starting at all. Now I have to deal with minelab telling me to send the detector to the supplier and the supplier telling me to send the detector to minelab as its within 7 days of receiving and opening the box . What a crock. 

I use the nel attack for beach work on a sovereign gt , it hits deep targets well, not tried it in the salt water yet , just dry sand. Anyone had any experience using a nel on a gt in the brine ?

Has anyone here used nel coils ?and how did you find there performance compared to stock standard coils?

If there was a ctx 4040 , that would be close to the perfect machine one would think . However if an old sovereign can take down a ctx 3030 in a friendly competition on the busiest beach in South East Queensland , you could have a ctx 7070z and get out performed by a sovereign with a 15 inch wot on the same section of beach , dirt etc , what it comes down to , is not the detector but the operator of the detector , if your comfortable with your machine you will become an operator instead of a " driver  " or user of you machine . As an operator your the master of your detector , as a user the detector is the master of you. The results of your efforts will reflect this analogy. Most detectors are so similar in capability except a few exceptions , the operator makes the difference between detectors.

Plenty of detectorists run gts on full threshold with the bigger coils , they just need to tone the threshold  back and would be wise if they know how put on a little discrimination , but for everyone it's s learning process

Yeah , seem plenty of users run there machines at the limit , if only they toned it back , the next guy would not of come along to pick up that platinum ring lol

There is a guy on you tube , seems pretty good at what he does , you would after 30 years lol, preferrer  mxt pro , does the job well in parks and prospecting gold 

And do you have 12,inch concentric for wet sand and water about 12 inches deep that I can get my hand on 

Have not seen an mxt active in the swash on YouTube , where the waves come in 

He is using a 15inch nel attack on the wet sand . Hole looks 18 inches plus . How would the 9.5 concentric go john ?

The mxt should knock it over on the dry sand . Will probably get an extra inch or 2 in depth in the wet sand and swash . It has an  lcd display for target discrimination , faster recovery rate also , will be a close call, but like the ctx , although the ctx did not take the day , it would most days and the mxt should also . But who knows john the good old gt might take it out again :) 

It will nail coins and jewelry at depth , it will loose an inch in the surf . I double sleeve the coil cords so there are no issues in the wet , it transitions nicely from the water to wet sand to dry sand , holds its own against newer machines , even after these years deathray

Hi Steve , I would have to agree with you the ctx3030 is a pretty detector . If it was a modelling Comp , the ctx would of taken the day.  When I'm in the water I harness up the sovereign gt and if I come across a target It goes over the shoulder . It was a good fun competition and shows how far detectors have come but also shows if you know how to use a gt  or any other older model your going have finds. The lcd display was impressive on the ctx3030 with its target identification , however after a few months at the beach the abrasive ness of the sand had already affected the graphite locks and shafts. Down points for the sovereign , recoverability as compared to the ctx3030 , discrimination not as precise as the ctx. No target ID except for noise variation on different targets . ( need to be experienced to be fairly sure of what the get has hit based on noise output) . Gt Positives , great depth on the larger coil - overall it did the job. 

Next comp, will be between mxt pro , deus xt and ctx 3030 on the beach . Keep everyone posted .

Mate got it and downloaded , also got a map of the entire country with every known gold mine and site going back from the 70s it's an absolute pearler

Give me 20 years and plenty of luck and I might be able to retire . I love the sport , and yes it's great to find a nugget or jewellery coins and relics , but I think if you take it too seriously you could get discouraged . Having said that give me all the nuggets one can carry john , would be a happy Chappy 

It's unfortunate mine lab did stop. Once I find a good detector I like to stick to it. Not one to flip around 2 much between detectors, just like changing wives , your going to loose out somewhere , usually in the hip pocket , unless you get paid to review then your in luck lol

Yeah I won't get rid off mine ever, it perform well , holds its own against the more overpriced detectors and those that have been following my feeds it picks up some pretty great jewelry
