Thanks John , just been lucky to have the coil over the right place .
Fitted the nel dd attack coil to the sovereign . Will see how it goes on the salt . Seems okay in the backyard test

So was thinking as a great value detector for a beginner the sovereign gt is comparable to some newer detectors on the market, although I will put a caveat on that I'm no expert here.

I did fill the hole back in , for public safety . Danny

Yeah I have not tried the latest except a sdc2300 which is a dig everything PI machine if you take it to the beach which I have , but it goes to show what you are saying could be right . I like the sovereign , it's recovery rate might be a little slow so I'm going to compliment that with a mxt pro or all pro . i think the sovereign is pretty good in the wet sand. It also picked up more than enough coins to cover the fuel for the trip. Once again same ground that other machines missed.

By the time I got to the ring I was dreaming that there would be a cold be waiting in there instead . Would of been just as happy :)

Thanks John , first ring find , and with a sovereign gt . Picked up plenty of coins aswell on a beach popular with detectorists . Pretty impressive for and old machine

Would of preferred the ring to be on the surface :) would of saved a lot of digging and one split pair of shorts in the wrong place :)

Went beach detecting with the old sovereign and it keeps on surprising how well it goes on beaches already swept with newer detectors . The same ground had been covered by a mine lab 3030. The sovereign had no problems picking up the silver ring at the bottom of the hole , I even dug a drainage channel to allow water to escape . After half an hour was about to give up when the ring popped out.

So finally the bidder that purchased my sdc came. Price 2200 cash and half a Troy ounce of gold . Where on earth do I sell the gold ?

Once again thanks John for your words , and to rick , for both your advice on this matter .
Kind regards

Just one more question before I head to the beach , coils for the mxt for wet sand swash , would you need to then change them once in dry sand . And would the sovereign still lick the mxt in the wet sand anyway?
-
Haha, I'm due to head to Europe in the next 12 months so no worries mate
-
how would the performance be compared to the sovereign with those coils
-
Okay I'm going to fly to the UK with a 6 pack of xxxx bitter beer , dig 4 feet down and and scatter a couple of 5 cent prices every foot and watch you dig them up . Then drink half the recovered beer lol

John I think you were telling me that a change of coil ( forget which coil) would work wonders in the swash or wet sand
